Correct me if I am wrong, how is drop box more then one step? if you just save everything in your drop box folder, then it does all the work for you, I have it set with my Mac, and my Desktop PC.

Don't forget the notebook system software, and you can remove the the recovery partition, since your installing a different OS then what came on that machine, that part is useless to you and you might as well us it for some more space.

If you happen to make a ISO of the CD they send with it, or have a XP cd, you can use WinSetupFromUSB to make a bootable Flash drive to reinstall the OS.

Slow transfers in OSX on flash drives

So I recently got a Macbook from work, and when ever i transfer files on to any flash drive, formated FAT or HFS or HFS+, the transfer is about 2 MB per second, and when I test it on my windows machine, it goes alot faster. And the weird part is if i connect my external hard drive up, it goes fast, ...

Well if size is a big concern, and if your only doing it for school, like notes and such, then if I were you I would get a Netbook, the Asus Eee PC, MSI wind, Dell Mini, Acer Aspire. My personal favorite is the MSI Wind. But I have also been eye balling teh Dell Mini 9 to turn it into a hackintosh.
