I have two sets I've been working on rebuilding.
Set #8847, Dragster (This one is completed, sitting on top of my monitor)
Set #8860, Auto Chassis (This one I'm missing a couple of parts from still, from 1980 or so)
LEGO is kicking it old school!

I most graciously appreciate it! The Howto is fairly detailed, but I'll take suggestions/clarifications to improve it. I simplified it as best as I could, but you have to draw a line somewhere as far as experience goes... if you don't know how to mount drives then the Howto isn't going to help you t...

Re:
Why not just boot it up on wine? One, because people have had problems with it... the Windows version requires DirectSound, which you have to have WineX (Cedega) to run, etc. etc. Two, cause there's a native version that I'll redistribute the binaries to freely, and it runs fantastically, plus supp...

They're listed in the second thread I linked to above, along with what is needed from the Windows version. I tried it this way and it worked, YMMV. (edit) Come to think of it, I have a spare machine lying around... I'd like to do it from scratch, and offer the whole thing (with HOWTO for noobs) in a...

I've been a juggler for about 10 years, and I can do most of what he did... overhanded, outsides, rainbows, behind the backs, snatches, etc. I can't do three with one hand (though I can do two apiece in each hand), and I can't do full behind-the-backs, though it didn't look too hard. I love the elbo...

Re:
My understanding of Descent3 Online packets is very poor. But I don't think it's possible to have a current Loki version acts like an 1.5er Windows version. If they did improve some issue in netcode, this is almost impossible to "emulate". Playing with Loki then would be more unstable tha...

You know, I seriously got to thinking about this problem recently, and as I understand it, the bug is actually in the Windows 1.4 version, and was also fixed in the Windows 1.5 version. How hard would it be to get Loki's 1.4b to report itself as 1.5 to Windows servers? What kind of repercussions wou...

I'm flattered somebody actually *asked* for my input :) I have my main machine apart for cleaning at the moment (horrible allergy season), and I'm surfing on my fileserver, but as soon as I get it back together, will thrash this intently tonight. My goodness, this could be awesome! it *IS* awesome! ...

Well, I play almost entirely the Stadium and Indika for two reasons: Linux 1.4b won't connect to Varicose Veins Guardian OR Subway Dancer. So what am I left with? There's tons of good levels out there, but for some reason I always see everybody playing those four on d3.descent.cx. Also, one-trick po...

Never seen a full-length PCI card before? You know on cases how they used to have those dumb plastic slots in the inside front of the case? These are why. Server cases still have them, as some huge RAID cards and graphics cards are still full-length. Oh yeah, and as for old hardware... I love kickin...

The linux browser that Iten made just uses the Descent3.cx lists, so that won't help. I've actually run Kali in Linux using Wine, and it's barely usable... it works, but the font rendering is screwed up, and most of the buttons aren't readable. I never even tried to get it to launch D3, as there was...

It's got a few weird ones in there also.. I didn't make the graphics, just gimp'ed them to the right size and format. Share and enjoy.

Well, things are looking good for us. My computer systems made it through the storm okay, as did my house, family, and everything else (except my job). We plan on going back into the city for good in about a week, and since I can only access the internet from the library here, I'll have to send the ...
We made it back okay, had to drive Cannonball-style from Memphis (no gasoline on the interstate here) but we're staying at my mom's in Thibodaux, about 2 hours from the city. We went back into town Monday, and amazingly my house had no damage! However, it still looks very bad, and it'll be a while b...
We made it. Me, my wife, 4 kids, and my mom and dad made it to a friend's house in Memphis early Monday morning. We sat up for the last two days watching as the city was pretty much destroyed before our eyes. They say now 80% of the city is under at least a foot of water. The river and lake levees h...

We are planning on leaving, but the sorry state of the Interstate here leaves people gridlocked for 20 miles going west. The last bad hurricane that came through, we split for, but we had to use a very old seldom-used road, working our way through the swamps until we hooked up with I-49 from Houma t...
