Files different from Windows and Linux versions of D3..

I tested this, and the resulting files can be tarred into less than 10MB. That means, with a Windows install CD, and a 10MB .tar file, you can run D3 in Linux. What you keep: all .mn3, .mve, and .hog files. What you need: the executables, .d3n and d3c files, and one linux-specific .hog file. This co...

I'm somewhat paranoid about backing stuff up. I've lost gigs of data from bad drives, and I refuse to get caught again. I'm currently backing up to two separate drives (mirrored) AND a tape drive. And once a month I dump everything onto a file server for good measure. God I hate dead hard drives. At...

I absolutely LOVE my playstation dual analog stick(s). It allows me to do 10 or more things at once, without moving my hand position. With this, the only thing I can't do is reverse and rearview at the same time (which is okay, rearview is toggle-able), and fire secondarires/flares at the same time....

I don't personally see a problem with putting up the Linux-secific files online. You can download the full Linux executables for *most* games and use them with your legal Windows copies (which I have done). If the game were new, I'd say no, but come on. This is going on 10 years in the hole. Somebod...

Like LSD said, Linux works best with a straight-up hardware or software RAID. (Highpoint 404/454 cards are bad about this, too). Since Linux detects the drives separately, that means they're not in a "real" hardware RAID mode. You'll probably notice that your CPU usage is higher when you d...

(You have to open a terminal and type "export __GL_FSAA_MODE=x" where x is the mode of AA you want. When the terminal closes, you lose the environment)

I'll run some more tests tonight, and see how it stacks up.
