Re: Religion?

The second question that bothers me is essentially the hard problem of consciousness--how can some configuration of atoms and the void give rise to the phenomenon of experience. I don't see a way for this to ever be scientifically explained. The religious concept of a soul seems particularly compel...

Re: A car in SPAAAACE!

That was a great launch. After we watched the liftoff online, most of the people in my office went outside to watch the rest of it. Once it gets high enough, you can see most launches from here in Orlando. Then we went back inside to watch the booster landings, really cool. They said there might be ...

Re: Religion?

My only point here is that atheists are just as susceptible to us/them tribalism as any group of humans for which a label can be developed. And tribalism is the energy powers cults. While I sometimes group myself as an atheist for practical purposes, I'm agnostic. I find agnosticism to be the true ...

That would be anti-theism. I disagree with 99% of the things NS/TB posts, but this isn't one of them. There is no central authority/dogma/prophet/whatever for atheism. Atheism is not a religion, it is simply, lack of belief in god(s).

How cute, more racist bullshit. Ok, so you tell me why two armed guards and barriers are necessary for a frikken tree. Are the guards racist? Are the politicians in charge of the town racist? Why do they feel they need to put security around a simple holiday symbol? Well, a little bit of research m...

Re: Campy Space Epic

In my opinion, the best science fiction series currently on TV is The Expanse. Hey thanks for the heads up. I look for it this season. I love good sci-fi shows. There have been two seasons so far. I think they are only available in the US on Amazon Prime. Outside the US, they should be on Netflix. ...

I watched the first three episodes and was not impressed. I'm not a big enough Star Trek fan to jump through the hoops CBS has put up to watch it. The last Star Trek series I watched was DS9, and that was long after it had aired originally, on DVD. Edited to add: In my opinion, the best science fic...

Is every song by Sabaton based of war and battle? Not a bad thing just wondering. Not all of them, but most are. They have a lot of songs about World Wars I & II, some more recent events, plus some really historical stuff. They did a concept album ( Carolus Rex ) about the rise and fall of Gustavus...
