Just FYI: Bug fixed in 1.12.80. Now I'm just trying to figure out some new CTD (crash to desktop) where the sound loops and a WinXP error pop-up is generated. :( .59 was more stable but there's gotta be something I'm doing to cause this instability, most likely tied to some advanced configuration op...

Which are you referring to? I tried to troubleshoot this issue for a couple hours, reading threads here and over on their forums, and eventually gave up.

edit: oh how about that, now there's a bug report on SourceForge for it! Interesting, it wasn't there earlier. Added to it. =)

Updating .59 to the latest (.76) broke it.

Since I just reg'd over at the D2X-XL forums a couple hours ago and have yet to receive the confirmation email that will let me actually use my account, I figured this is the next best place to post this. :P I extracted the files and tried to run the same .exe as always but it errors with: \"Th...

I have the server on ports 2093 and 21043 and using a separate cache directory, but when I fire up Descent 3 and go to multiplayer, I don't see it under Local Games, nor if I try to 'Search for Games At' either the internal or external IP address of my machine, and not even 127.0.0.1 returns any gam...

What about a more recent game that more people actually own but that has the tools for making a total conversion? I think Crysis would be the most recent FPS game to come with a full suite of modding tools, etc.

This looked promising; whatever happened with it?
Site's down currently.

Maybe someone will do this with Crysis or another more recent and more widely-adapted FPS game that has great editing/modding tools (like Crysis supposedly does).

Which connection type and model to use?

PXO is dead, but I've seen server config examples using the PXO instead of TCP~IP setting. Which is correct for setting up a server to show up at the .cx tracker site or does it matter?

Also, model should not be Peer-2-Peer, right?

Thanks!

Just fyi: an occasional hiccup or jump, especially if you're also seeing untextured surfaces, is a good sign you're running out of texture memory on your videocard and it's accessing the harddrive to supplement the VRAM. Might want to try knocking down the texture setting a notch to see if that solv...
