Oh man, there's a lot of it, really. Cube geometry, texturing, item manipulation, lighting and then you also gotta make a briefing probably (BriefEd is used for that). There should be some tutorial online somewhere, I don't know any though.

Yep, it's exactly as you say. That's probably why I never bothered fixing it. No idea why DLE sets the default transparency at 50% though, seems a bit counter-intuitive to me.

Yeah don't worry too much, that particular thing seemed off to me too, so I reduced the transparency of all such walls that I could find in one mine, and made sure there were none in subsequent ones. Sometimes I do overlook it though, as I just get caught up in thinking it's just DLE's display funct...

The transparency values don't really reflect anything in vanilla and Rebirth, as the engine didn't have transparency functionality. BTW to save you some space I removed all the oggs from the DCA2 folder that aren't currently part of a completed level. I renamed the others so you can see exactly which level(s) they're there for and I'll re-upload what I took down when there's somewhere to actually put them in the mission. Thanks...

Well if you've used any imported textures a late conversion may mess them up beyond recognition. Should be easy to fix them manually afterwards though. Most Baloris textures look really cool in descent.pig but like one or two have ugly blemishes on them, so make sure to re-examine the level afterwads.

Holy crap, looks like a veritable mishmash of textures! I really like it, we kinda need something like that.

Good thing there's also one more Zeta Aquilae slot open, I'd really like it to be something like Turnabout Bore in terms of texture variety, or perhaps even more varied.

We would never be able to create a sensible difficulty curve if we discarded the no population rule. The designers are welcome to put in placeholder bots in places they are insistent on populating, but so far everyone's either been populating the levels all the way, or putting in nothing at all. I just updated the main HOG with the fix for level 1, and added the midi music for levels 1-5 too. :D No SNG yet (so the level 5 track won't play till there is one). 42's nearly finished, and so's my new music track... You've been keeping busy I see, lol :D I'll check it out right away - music play...

Nice job! Your playing style is still a bit neurotic and paranoid - but that's what level 6 does to you alright! Your next challenge should be to actually destroy all the mechs in the level rather than skipping them, for a full 100% run. You don't need to do the same with robots spawned from matcens...

Trichording shouldn't be very tough to do if you have comfortable input IMO. I don't really do it a lot though, except the times when you need to quickly make your way through an exposed section and don't have the afterburner.

Oh, and I think the mission will be optimally run in Rebirth anyway. You definitely can port a sng file into the main HOG - there is custom music in stuff like Enemy Within etc, and it doesn't use any external files as far as I recall, and that's by far the tidiest solution. It doesn't work in vanil...

Whoa, didn't know this was a thing! Descent 1 had so many cool cheats D2 didn't have, what a shame.

I tried playing level 1 with this cheat, made it halfway through without dying. I could totally follow the tempo, but I'd probably need neural input to actually do stuff I need to do in-game.

Updated the demo with level 4. Still gonna do lots of fine-tuning on it, since it needs more supplies (for one thing), and changing up some Class 1 Drones to other mechs.
