The directshow and video for windows api's do in fact work, but discaler tries to not use those as it comes with it's own drivers to access the hardware directly(some people dont even load the manufactures drivers if they use only discaler). If discaler has to use the directshow filter, it looses som...

the problems with games locking up had nothing to do with the agp speed(altho i did try it in the past along with setting agp 8x down to 4x..) If you read the thread posted there about the crashing in opengl games(medal of honor or Call of Duty only), you will see that driver sets before 3.10 worked...

I've been gameing sice 1992, so i'm fairly versed in how to set up a computer.... and i also know how to do a fresh format/install, which is much safer than using those driver cleaners(norton ghost also helps with testing drivers when you save a backup with everying i...

Vindicator, give that 9800 about 6 to 8 months and you will see exactly why i can't stand ATI. After you get 5 or 6 driver releases in a row that hard lock your computer while trying to run several popular games(as Call of duty or Medial of honor do on the 9700) even if ati coulndt fix it in one dri...

Poor acting, and poor special effect... must of been the low budget movie of the week  The previews made this movie look like it was going to be really good, but even the story line is way over predictable. Frosty, d3d has a bug in descent 3 and will always skip, this is why i wont even think of playing with d3d(besides the 20% fps drop) I believe Kevin said it had something to do with the way dx6 read textures poorly and more then likey wont ever be fixed in d3(as this problem still exists in the beta...

the biggest diffrence i see between the 5700/5800/5900 is as follows 5700 - first dx9 card, ran wayyyy too hot, sounded like dust buster and only had 128 bit memory interface and a 4x1 texture pieline. can be bought for as little as $130 5800 - updated 5700, managed to lower heat output with better ...

You can pick up the regular GF 5900 for around $220 for a good model!!Stay away from the se ans xt's.... The 5700 that Agressor linked above would be a waste of money since it has a 128 bit memory bus vs the 5900's 256 bit bus.... and it's only about 20 or 30 dollars more and they run quite a bit co...
