On the DXA issue:
- Create a .ZIP
- Load it with files
- Change the extension to .DXA
- Keep in mind that all DXAs work on all missions - AFAIK the name of the DXA doesn't affect anything

I have a larger set in the works. I considered using the level in that mission, however none of the locations I picked fit the theme of that level save one which is already complete.

And you didn't pick my spot since I technically hadn't said anything yet. :wink:

Besides, I haven't had much luck claiming in the past. Plus the thing you said about letting other (and sometimes better) authors make some levels.

Ironically the direct conversion was what levels 1-9 did before I switched plans. As for the lack of PIGs and POGs, I wanted to keep it as vanilla as possible save the boss tweaks.
I'll see if I can cut down the linearity on some levels though.

Would you acknowledge Proteus Cyanide Mine?
An ice-themed level. IMO it has a good D1 feel. Has robots, but (being an earlier level) I restrained myself on the difficulty scale.

I added the unlock door switch as a failsafe since I discovered that if you destroy the reactor with both doors open you're stuck in. The grate should help with that though. The best way is to crack Google's relevance algorithm - however a video (rightly IMO) discouraged that practice. The only other way is to boost popularity for the videos.

It seems like you can adjust brightness settings to get something more akin to Retro (in the form of the light values stored in the level rather than XL's computed lightmaps) - that's lightmap quality IIRC?

Newest Rebirths gives the D1 bosses their AI back. D2X-XL has always given them a D2-style teleport. (They never spawn robots in XL or instantly teleport)

The cockpit is actually a graphic asset. You'll find it in the POGs. You can do the batch in either order - just make sure the order is opposite on one side of the "else" than the other. You will also want to make sure you don't say "if the DXA exists turn the ZIP into a DXA" or else it won't do any...

If you have software to convert to 256-color bitmaps, Game Maker's sprite editor is quite powerful. IIRC it only saves PNGs though.

The situation cleared itself up much quicker than expected. Zandura II Contains reinventions the definitive features of Zandura, but to a much less noticeable degree than I did with Charon. I built it and I can hardly identify them :lol: It is challenging, but I did make it a bit easier than Dynamo....

I've always gotten around the DXA problem with a simple batch file:

It seems like Rebirth supports HX1 files (which are essentially HXM files). The only way that DOS supports is to hack DESCENT.PIG though AFAIK.

Yokallescence's levels have a custom seeker model and a tiny mega missile-looking Kamakaze robot. but IIRC those are the only new models. Several robots have been retextured though.
