I am uploading my no-death no-save Insane run for Obsidian (replay except level 15 which uses the old demo). With music rendered by good software synthesizer - it is really worth it, Obsidian music is like a bomb!

For D1, just create the "missions" folder. About Vertigo, yes you need it, but I don't remember whether it was in my original package (from GoG) already or I installed it from DMDB, or it came with Rebirth. Use stable version of Rebirth (yes, it is the right place), like 0.58, not the nightly build....

Big thanks Alter-Fox! VirtualMIDISynth works just nice, allows to redirect MIDI output to MIDIYoke and then to the VST plugin host. No errors, but Windows default synth (that is used by Rebirth, I suppose) sucks compared to, say, Yamaha S-YXG2006LE. In fact it is probably the worst synth in the universe. Does anybody know how to use software synthesizer for the Descent 1, 2 built-in MIDI music?

My synths are in form of VST plugins and I usually use them with various MIDI players like VanBasco Karaoke player or foobar, either via MidiYoke/Savihost, or directly (foobar Midi Player addon). But can I play midis in the game itself or during recording with my software synths?

Thanks but it still does not work, first it asked msvbm50.dll, I downloaded it, then it gave "stif3 not properly installed" error, running as admin as you suggested in the old thread does not help, BTW the message is entirely correct... Maybe smth is still missing, or I should install the StIf, too?...

I only assumed that in D1 red hulks used player homers, simply because of the damage. They definitely use robot homers in D2, same as Lou Guards. Maybe you can try to play with him or someone else over LAN (where you should not have problems with port forwarding or direct connection/white IP)? Probably it will work. Then you have to dip into this port forwarding crap, probably try using Hamachi VPN to ensure "direct" or "white" IP on the host...

Anyone knows why the boss has the "Get behind" AI ? Looks like a bug, it makes the boss to not cloak/teleport, and thus too easy...
BTW the interesting fact is , the boss room is nearly identical to Lost Levels level 24 boss room!

Great runs, I liked how you dodged the first red hulk missiles, for me it was always very hard in D1, so I just blew up those red guys from afar, with missiles, or corner sniping. It seems that you kill some of the red hulks later with one Fusion shot and a homing missile, never knew it is possible....

About the best strategy (safest) for the boss - I think that one Calmarius used (camping in the alcove) is the best if done correctly. Almost 1 of 2 successfull. BTW i tried to do L12 your way, it was hard, probably harder than L10, the minibosses and the seeker in the big room on the way to the energy center kill you often or you run out of energy. And you can only beat the boss if you are lucky enough for it to teleport twice in your sight but far from you...

And it needs static IP on the server as far as I know. In D2 I tested the multiplayer with one friend (via Rebirth), it was ok (by now it is my only game in multiplayer). He set up the server and gavem me an IP and I connected to it.

Well most deaths in my case were due to me going to the energy center near the blue key and running out of energy, otherwise, if you know the traps and where to go, not so hard. I tested it (not cold-start however). About the geometry and texturing, I love it! Dark atmosphere, Vertigo-like large rooms, this is what I like! Sliding bridge near the blue key-awesome!!! don't know how you made it with descent engine... Maybe could look even better if the WHOLE bridge had moving...

Thanks DFW! Already 19 levels are uploaded and I even managed to beat and re-record L4 and L16 on Insane without deaths and saves!
