Re: How's your weather?/General weather discussion thread [Intended potentially for running discussion!]

I looked at a North America temperature map and the last week has been warmer than normal in southern Manitoba, but the last two weeks combined and the month-to-date have been colder than normal.

Re: How's your weather?/General weather discussion thread [Intended potentially for running discussion!]

Some of the absolutely craziest weather whiplash I've seen even for the standards of where I live: A week ago, it was no higher than -11C all day, -20C at night. With several inches of snow on the ground. Between late Wednesday (10th) and early Friday (12th) it was +13C or warmer (as high as +17C) f...

Re: How's your weather?/General weather discussion thread [Intended for a running discussion!]

This thread is intended for potentially a running discussion BTW, whenever you're interested in posting about your current weather or anything else weather-related. It snowed again this afternoon! Not a huge snowpack, but got a little back at least. And sitting at -6C again. Should keep the snow on ...

Re: How's your weather?/General weather discussion thread

As for warm and dry winters, it looks like some cold did come into the PNW in 2013/14. But 2014/15 was record warm. Both were quite cold winters in the Eastern USA, however. 2015/16 was very warm by February 2016 in the PNW though February 2015 was warmer still. I definitely saw the drought stretchi...

Re: How's your weather?/General weather discussion thread

Sorry, I had just saw the global warming thread in the other section so assumed it was the section all non-Descent stuff goes in, wasn't aware it was split into multiple sections. Should've looked closer. No problem with moving. :) How was 2017 for you (and anyone else who wants to comment) weather-...

Re: How's your weather?/General weather discussion thread

Southern California has been ridiculously hot lately with destructive fires (like Thomas). Last winter though you had beneficial rain for the long term drought. That same pattern meant no winter here in the Eastern USA though. It was 17-20C for a week straight in February (against normal around 4C) ...

Re: How's your weather?/General weather discussion thread

Yeah that Eastern North America cold snap was a big one. 2014 and early 2015 had them even more frequently. It was hard for me to believe at the time that the whole globe was burning up heat records! But most of the timbre since mid 2015 it's been really warm. Here the coldest in the last two weeks ...

How's your weather?/General weather discussion thread [Intended potentially for running discussion!]

Basically what the title says, I have a huge interest in weather so figured it was worth taking a shot at a potential discussion about it (and at your discretion, and if you don't mind, please mention where you live). I'm in Northern Ohio, my normal is +1C right now. This current weather is crazy. I...

Re: Global warming?

Global warning is serious and cold spells don't disprove it. The globe as a whole had record heat recently THREE years in a row from 2014-2016, and these records were not broken, they were smashed. And 2017 was still on a far higher level of warmth than any year before 2015. In the USA, the last thr...

What are you referring to wht discussing Minecraft/Terraria? I haven't played those games but both post-date TEW (I think both games came out circa 2011, TEW was 2008) and I don't get the connection.

Re: Orion Nebula for D2 - lost?

I came across (through a very old thread on a different forum) a 'jackpot' zip of old Descent II missions that was still online and it had V2.01 in it! I updated DMDB with that version.

Since there's a thread about a Vertigo speedrun in this forum, I thought I'd include the topic here as well. Re: Impressions on Descent: Insane, cold start, no-death, 100%

That is also helped because it uses the Baloris Prime pig file. Entropy 2 Level 5 (and Lost Levels Level 19) do the same.

And another good Pumma Sphere level I just recorded:

New playlist for me as well, single levels and short missions for Descent (II):

Ignore the highlighted video past 19:20, for some reason the recording software didn't stop and I didn't catch it immediately.

What's the best custom music in a Descent (II) level?

What are your personal favorite custom music tracks (maybe top 3-5) you've ever heard in a Descent or Descent II level (mission and level number)? The only limitation is that it cannot be a track that appears in the original Descent I or II. And it has to be a single player mission. Other than that,...

Any recommendation of a good synthesizer (perhaps whete can I get yours too)? I did install a soundfont for DosBOX, but it made no difference in Rebirth or Media Player.

Re: Does anybody know how to use software synthesizer for the Descent 1, 2 built-in MIDI music?

I've always been able to have good midi music (much better than DosBOX) in Rebirth out of the box with no problem. What errors do you get?

Outside of Descent (if exporting the midi) I believe I just use Windows Media Player.

Maybe a 'proper' solo version of AF will be made, not that anything is actually wrong or 'improper' as is, but proper meaning as in supporting all the traditional solo play game styles.

I think Xfing is right with how he compares the two. I've been doing videos from DooM lately (on YouTube) but when I do play Descent I try to record it as well, just put up videos of what I'm playing. As for this thread's topic...sounds like Level 10 must have been a real, no questions asked nightma...

Re: Bahagad Outbreak by DarkFlameWolf

Bahagad was already made for SP as far as I know (it's not like AF). And LL seems to be a step up in design perhaps, too.

I wonder how Kragg System stands up, another older DFW D2 map. You can watch on YT and/or get it on Scorch's Den.
