I was a kid back then. I didn't know what it meant to SLIDE back then, only turned around. Had a bad keyboard config. The moment when I finally defeated that as*hole boss from level 7 was like a revelation for me. Used to be so damn afraid of the thing I entered the red door and sat in that corridor...

Play Station Cutscenes for D1

I wonder if it's possible (by means of some coding or whatever) to include the D1 intro, level ending and outro cinematics into Rebirth or XL? I know that these movies are around in form of EXTRAx-H.HOG (not sure about the name) files. Would it be possible to somehow implement them, like the D2 files?

I must say I have a lot of nostalgia for the Sound Blaster-rendered music. Still feasible, if one runs Setup.exe and later Descentr.exe under DOSbox! Hell yeah! :) DXX-Rebirth and XL offer midi-rendered tracks, which MAY sound better/clearer but don't have that... chunkiness which made Sound Blaster...

Oh. Seems like I HAVE trichorded, after all... I think I'll practice it a bit. In the level 25 pathways, I think, they're pretty long.

Thought so... makes things helluva annoying in Secret Level 5, where he's like, the only bot there.

The driller's shriek, the green platformer's gurgling hellspawn growl, and Plasma Driller's weirdo voice.

The voices in D1 were awesome TBH.

I've also registered on that German board dedicated to Rebirth. Just wanted to tell them that D2X-Rebirth doesn't work altogether for me. D1X runs perfectly, but D2X crashes after the \"prepare for descent\" intermission, not letting me play whatsoever. hmm. but that's just a digression :D

.com or .net?

Sorry for all the fuss. It's been quite a long time since I last dropped by, and I just realized that I've come to an altogether new board than before! My username wasn't among the existing ones, so I had to register once again. I said to myself: oh, whatever. No harm done. But later this day I stum...

Well my only problem is when I try to shoot Primary (LAlt) and Slide Up (W), WordWeb pops up, alt-tabbing my game, while ★■◆● still goes on inside... I guess I just gotta remove the key shortcut to activating WordWeb. Otherwise I'm pretty fine. Never really tri-chorded, though. Can someone fill me i...

Level 6 is harder than 7 due to all of these damn Drillers. Sorry, but sniping is a must here. Preferably by shooting Homers from around corners. I've beaten this level without dying on Insane, but only with the help of saving/loading. I can give you some general tips for the level: 1) Deplete the 2...

A perfect, keyboard-only control setting.

Hey there. I've been playing Descent for quite some time, without strafing whatsoever for quite a while, too. I've come up with a perfect keyboard-only setup, which I'll now present if it's to help anybody. It's specifically for Descent 1, but can be reused in D2 with slight alterations, although I ...

I voted for different level. I mean particularly level 16. Three Medium Hulks at the very beginning, blasting away at you. On Insane it spells certain death for most players, at least those who don't know how to strafe. Just try for yourselves!

I voted for the Fusion Hulk. One shot and you're gone. I think that Missile Platform, Super Hulk and Class 1 and 2 Drillers are a great nuisance, too.

In my opinion Descent 1 robots were as good if not better than D2 ones. I mean, just take a look at the Purple Fusion Hulk. Streamlined angles, perfect bulk (I think he and the boss he's modeled after were the basis for the later Lou Guard). Besides, the bot has some really awesome sound effects, pe...
