I shudder to think what I've been on.
136 squares, 15746 points, and that's just the first try.

I suppose not all level designers are willing to spend the time to install and run extra compilers for Linux... off the top of my head I couldn't say I'd be able to either, although I probably could figure it out. But DALLAS isn't really too hard. Let's just say, if you can't do that, don't take up ...

That's because the level 8 boss doesn't have anything but smart mines and some kind of cannon like Gauss or Helix - I forget which. There are tougher normal robots than that (not in terms of armour, but still). Level 12... gauss and megas. I think. In a relatively large room. It's comparable to the ...

I'm running WinXP, which is fairly similar if not worse, and can get Descent 1 running fine... but only 1.5. D1x doesn't work at all because of its video routines. (Windows gets irritated when you use near-pointer access or something like that...) Well, D1x 1.43 works, but I've never tried it over K...

What complexity they show does indicate some power, though. Although it does appear pretty cuboid in general, that doesn't tend to mean much other than that designers like to do it that way. (I'm sure perpendicular faces aren't enforced... or at least not in CD.) From a brief glance, that stuff -can...

In typical fickle liberal fashion, I tend to agree that Iraq needed to lose Saddam Hussein, and I'm not going to take away any points from America for doing that. On the other hand, the underhanded way they used to try to 'convince' the world that they had a mandate for any other reason was seriousl...

Ok, I'm really not sure whether homeschooling is a good idea or not. I have heard mixed opinions; some say it works better, others say it is worse. While it is much harder for a kid to fall through the cracks if the parents actually give a damn (and know what they're doing...!), some schoolteachers ...

Uhm... The rail gun isn't called a rail gun because it fires rails. It just uses rails to aid propulsion of a projectile. Basically it works by running a strong current through the rails and the projectile between them, which creates a magnetic field that forces the projectile along the barrel. Usua...

You might also know that lunar tides also affect the land on Earth's surface. But they don't affect it much. We're talking maybe 50 cm here at most. Now, even if the object were a lot closer, and considering that gravitational attraction is inversely proportional to the square of distance, that woul...

Curious about level design aspects. 1) It's already been said that outdoor areas will not be natively supported. Can you fake them and still retain your reputation? Although people did it even in D1 and D2, they quite frankly sucked - it'd be nice if Core Decision supported such architecture a littl...

If you check the chat logs, they've already said how the whole novice/expert thing will be handled. Newer players can join servers where the complexity is reduced and some features disabled. In these servers, it shouldn't take them long to match the pros. More features are enabled at higher-skill se...

There was something called the Omicron Project for D2... but I never played it, and hence am not sure how good it was. There was also an original Encounter at Farpoint SP mission - again, never played it, not sure on quality, but the levels were made by the same guy (Kam Sheffield, if memory from ab...
