At any case, there's always a chance to buy it on Steam (when released of course) as a gift for him, unless SirWinner doesn't has a Steam account.

Yeah, it almost feels like a dream, to have a new Descent after so many years!
We made it happen (both the backers and Descendent Studios), kudos to the Descent community for helping on this!

AFAIK, the Torch can be earned in-game, but the Torch KS (that's a different skinned version) must be bought.

Re: Descent Underground - Kickstarter goal reached!

IIRC, once a project reaches it's goal, Kickstarter won't let anyone to back off below the required goal minimum (to prevent trolling).
So if it reached 600,000 it won't go below that.
You can cancel pledges that counts beyond the 600,000 tho.

I think in this case is the other way around.
The developers are totally open to Valin's offer, but he (Valin) stated that he would only invest if he feels convinced enough.

My only real stipulation on bridging the KS to success (if the gap is waaay over the upper reward levels) is to see the GDD (they are living documents, I'll take what they've got) and a tech demo. I think Valin's offering would work as an emergency switch, in case something goes bad on the last days of the KS campaign, and I feel that's a very good offer as it is!

But he's right, to make such a risky investment, he must be really sure he really wants to use his money that way.
