That's true, you can symlink nearly anything in Linux. It would probably work well for multiple dedicated servers, which (I think) need to be in separate folders but could share the same .hog files. I really haven't gotten into the dedicated server aspect of it, but I'm seriously considering it... M...

None of the levels from D1 really stick out in my mind... it's been too long since I played them. D2: Probably most of the secret levels. They were frustrating, but pretty slick in design. Better than most of the rest of D2. The Vertego levels were pretty good, but nothing sticks out in my mind spec...

Last I heard, development on 1.5 was totally dead in the water, and nobody else could get the code to finish it. We spent over a year trying to jump-start it. Most of us just gave up and just dealt with the 1.4 issues, or ran Windows-only 1.5 servers. (EDIT) I just re-read through some of the old st...

Oh cool! I've been trying to get d3 to work on Ubuntu without success yet. Question, are these files actually in the public domain? No, I'm not threatening to turn anyone in, it's just that I'm a bit of a stickler for making certain I don't download illegal stuff. If I could find a d3 for linux, I'...

I run D3 in Linux, exclusively. I've got the Loki official port I got off Ebay. It does have it's limitations, but it's not as buggy as using the windows version under wine, which I have done. I did extensive benchmarking, and with medium-range hardware, there was no performance difference between t...

Ubuntu isn't bad... I still prefer Suse because of the system-wide control panel. I did run across the UbuntuCE, and I wasn't impressed with the software list. I was surprised at how many of the more common translations and paraphrases of the Bible that the library was missing. Good effort, but need...

The system is no longer functioning as it was intended. Republicans and Democrats are both trying to get away with as much as they can. They only see the war in Iraq as a way to increase their political leverage. If they actually cared, they'd do something about it. Four thousand people every year d...

So it actually plays multiplayer okay? Can you start a game and fly around, but it gets a GLX crash when you run single player? That's really odd. First, are you using Beryl, GLX, or anything like that? If you're not using GLX for the 3D desktop, then I'd uninstall GLX and see if that fixes it. Next...

Since its going to have music, make sure you have the choice of rock-type music, and some old MIDI type tracks, for those of us who don't care for rock, or whatever Redbook is considered. Redbook is what they called actual CD audio, instead of MIDI tracks... remember back when games had nothing but...

That's probably because the soul does not exist. It's a figment created by the action of neurons in your head. When they stop working, you die. The end. Goodbye. That's a rather pitiful way to look at things. However, in your case, they might have started not working already... you might want to ch...

Well, from what I understand, Munk's checksum fixer doesn't work on co-op (and obviously single-player) so it would work if the levels check out okay... I haven't tried it, and until I fix my Linux machine, I'll have to wait and see. On the plus side, I ordered the parts to fix it today. Newegg FTW!...

I played Forsaken (still have a copy) but the flickering lights gave me headaches. So I just use the audio from it for taunts in D3. :D On topic, I don't think I've ever played D3 (or D2 or D1) in co-op. However, since I run it in Linux, I need to find another Linux player to play with... Xamandir a...

don't blame the poor for your tax rate blame your military spending. The problem isn't either "the poor" or "the military". The problem is the way the government just doles out money to anybody and everybody like there's no tomorrow. IIRC well over 50% of government spending is ...

I almost hate to think about the amount of money that's getting spent in the U.S. right now... Sadly, no matter how high they jack the tax rates up, they'll find a way to waste it. As much as I hate to say it, the only way out of this death spiral is to severely cut government programs, and that's n...
