That's true, you can symlink nearly anything in Linux. It would probably work well for multiple dedicated servers, which (I think) need to be in separate folders but could share the same .hog files. I got into the scene with the Descent 2 demo... but I was already in college by then.

With D2X and D3 running in Linux and OSX, there's all kinds of technology going on. Including old-school joystick support. Somebody needs to send me some old joysticks to test in Linux...

As long as it's not Gentoo, I think I can use almost any distro.

Well, as long as I can use Smart on it for package management. :) Which means Suse, RedHat, and all Ubuntu flavors.

I'm in the process of finding it and re-uploading it. My hosting got moved after a server crash a few months ago. I'll have it back up by the weekend (possibly even the ISO files as well).

Indeed. Up until now, you could only get Linux on a server product, if you were lucky. I'm not a huge fan of Ubuntu, but it works, it's Linux, and more importantly, you can play Descent on it!

Well, from what I understand, Munk's checksum fixer doesn't work on co-op (and obviously single-player) so it would work if the levels check out okay... I haven't tried it, and until I fix my Linux machine, I'll have to wait and see. On the plus side, I ordered the parts to fix it today. Newegg FTW!...
