Re:
The university I work for is converting a chunk of its faculty and all incoming freshmen to MacBooks. I was the sole lucky IT tech that was chosen to get Apple Care certified. What, no more Sheetz? I'd just assign a random keyboard shortcut to run "rm -rf ~/" on every machine you br...
Re:
The only advice I can give you is to look up toward North Seattle. We used to live up around Northgate, and it wasn't too bad -- and you've got a straight shot down 15th or Aurora to work. I've been looking at Northgate a bit, and it's alright. Buildings certainly look nice, and the office is on 16...

Think about dates. Hm. That's a good point... but I'm a programmer, so maybe not. :P I lived up near Seattle for a few years. The car commute is absolutely awful though. All traffic is squeezed down through either I-5 or across the 2 floating bridges from the east side and they're doing MAJOR const...
Practically speaking, I don't know if I'll need one to start out. I don't have any family or friends in the area, so I have nobody to visit. I've taken the bus to the office from the downtown area before, so I at least know how to get there . I will need to rent a car when I get there so I can do fu...

Seattle
So it looks like I'll be moving to Seattle come summer. I've got a job lined up with a decent income, but being a life-long East Coaster I don't really know the area. Can anyone recommend areas where I can get a 1-bedroom apartment for around $800/mo (utilities need not be included) and get to Inter...

Heard about it this morning. How did I know it was the one at the Green Acres Mall? :( That Wal-Mart happens to sit in the poorest and most densely-populated part of Nassau County. Though as I've pointed out elsewhere, this is hardly a US-centric phenomenon; in 2005 five people were hospitalized at ...

Trademark law is iffy. Trademarks need not be registered to be effective, if you have sufficient evidence to prove brand dilution, and you are actively using the trademark. Since Interplay has licensed Descent for sale on GameTap and Good Old Games, they are actively using the trademark, and in my I...

Good Old Games
So it looks like Interplay has decided to form/join Good Old Games, which is offering Fallout, a Descent/Descent II package, and MDK all DRM-free.

Hah, would have loved to see this for myself.
For those who don't know, Pikesville is just outside the Baltimore city limits, inside the beltway. We also have our own billboards dedicated to the FSM. Very odd combination of bumblefark and urban here.

We've got two of them stacked in our on-air booth, one running Windows and the other just OS X. They're fine, a little hot to the touch (no fan) but the external power supplies are a bit of a pain. But they're so cheap, comparatively speaking. They're definitely not meant to be the average all-purpo...

To be more accurate, it's called chroma key. You could go out and get a bright, rich green cotton sheet (will work better than blue on a cheap camcorder) and something that records to mini-DV, plug it into a FireWire interface on your computer, and use some relatively cheap software to do what you w...

I'm not entirely sure what context you're talking about w/r/t 80 column text on the iPod Touch, so I'll assume webpages. Since it scales webpages dynamically, there will be no issue (see the iPhone ads for demonstration, it's the same browser). Come February, the SDK will be out and there should be ...

Domain is the NT domain, which may or may not be the same as your company's DNS domain. For example, this past semester my login was \"CAMPUS\\username\" (note the backslash, not the forward slash).
OWA login will never be username@domain.com

Testi i'm also curious what Scientology has that other religions don't - that it would attract scorn from the German constitution. What defines a Cult over a Religion to me is that a Cult has a large amount of social control over it's members - and since religions do the same there isn't really any...
