Re: D2 Single-Player: Plutonian Shores
I just double-checked it, the switch works on my end. I know you have to be precise with your shots, of course, but it did work for me when I just tried it a minute ago, so I'm not sure what else could be preventing it from working for you. Seems it was a random game bug (switch destroyed but grate...

Re: D2 Single-Player: Plutonian Shores
Just finished "Perdition". Gotta say, this is probably THE single level that most recaptures the initial dread, rawness and threat of late-game D1 such as level 26 in any D2 campaign I've played thus far. It's this feeling of brutality and unforgivingness that no prior D2 campaign that I'...

Re: D2 Single-Player: Plutonian Shores
You know, booting up level 1 and seeing class 2 platformers alongside a good wealth of medium hulks doesn't really bode well for first impressions on the overall difficulty of this set. Yeah, the difficulty of this set is erratic and doesn't follow any sort of sensible curve, that I can tell you. O...

You know, booting up level 1 and seeing class 2 platformers alongside a good wealth of medium hulks doesn't really bode well for first impressions on the overall difficulty of this set. It is an easy level anyway (despite a few platformers and medium hulks), as you have adequate weapons - nowhere n...

Recently replayed level 18 Insane cold-start 100% (to take a small break from Plutonian Shores playthrough) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J51Rv1QbS2k it does not look that bad, with the strategy shown in the vid. Huh, just noticed every new mission pack released these days has a pinned topic. That's...neat. This one is definitely worth it! BTW I just redid all "demo levels" i.e 1-11 on Insane cold-start (also trying to find all secrets and do 100% kills), would say they've got great replay value, ...

Hope you can beat it, Calmarius had to spend several weeks to do certain TEW and especially Apocalyptic Factor D2 levels from cold start - and this level is not nearly as bad as those. Of course, doing it so fast makes things a bit diffeerent... BTW which area caused most failures for you (be it dea...

Re: Going Rambo on D1 level 6 (And other levels)
Anyway it would be nice to have a robot counter like you have in DooM. Because I observed those baby spiders sometimes jumping away into a side tunnel immediately as they spawn, so it is almost impossible to notice them. Probably easy to implement (few lines code change) if you use DXX-Rebirth, have...

That's interesting to see this level done so quickly without dealing with all matcens including dual matcens in the big room (which I usually did because it is ...

Re: Going Rambo on D1 level 6 (And other levels)
Those times for L11 are incredible, recently did an Insane 100% no death cold start of it, I was (at least for myself) quite fast and not using any luring tactics, and it took me 15 minutes... Although spent maybe 2 extra minutes for clearing matcens 3 times in the red key pit. Also took me like 2 h...

Great new, it came right in time... Music is from Pulse 4 Goa Trance compilation (vero old one), I am a big fan of electronic music of different kinds, and as soon as I got bored with default MIDI music I started adding my own "soundtrack" to the mission that don't have custom music (see AF, Hydro, Ironblade on my channel fo...

L21 and 22 are hardest in the original game campaign IMO, dickish is the right term for the beginning of both. Still, both are doable on Insane skill no death no save 100% kills, which means they are not THAT bad. In my Rebirth version (0.58.1) sending away the guidebot works well so he does not bug...

Yes those smart mines strike almost like a mega missile if all the blobs hit! And I myself used the 30 smart mine tactics against AF L7 boss, which has 4600 HP - compared to 5500 for CS L24 - and it is killed exactly by 30 smart mines. The problem with smart mine tactics is that anything homing fire...

Ok, if you will manage L24 this way (no SL) you will be the first one who did it... As I said earlier I never killed this boss with less than 7 shakers (direct back hits), and the level has only 5 (one very well hidden) - and 3 more in SL.

They are allowed, given you enter and exit the SL without additional saves (i.e save only in the beginning of the base level). Tunnel shooter levels are no good, as well as any levels that waste player's time (shooting gallery rooms, excessive backtracking, stupid matcens, tons of bomb shitters, etc). Not sure, never killed it with just 6 in any of my attempts, and Calmarius run also uses 7. Could be that some of the hits were not counted or few bomblets flew after a spawn robot - don't know. Same thing with TEW boss, never seen it killed with less than 5 shakers (although it has 1000 HP less).

As I remember, CS L24 boss has 6500 HP, and one direct shaker hit takes away 1000 HP or slightly less - so it takes 7 shakers to kill, 7500 would mean 8 direct hits - quite a lot, further increasing boss HP could create smth like AF L9 monster (static Mega missile turret with 32000 HP - you need to ...

Still doubt it, in L6 those two grey hulks near the blue key can start to roam and jump on you any time (which is sure death), as well as one near the energy center - you can lure it but sometimes it just refuses to go out. Some of the drillers can start to roam before you get them and cause a lot o...

Unfortunately it is impossible to stunlock on Insane difficulty, it is too fast and mobile (only works rarely when it has it's back turned to you, but usually this is not the case). Main reason I use a mousepad is to control the level of friction and avoid wearing out the desk. There's a robot in Project Hydro starting on Level 10 that looks worse than an IDR or Vertigo MAX. Try cold starting that level on a high difficulty!
