For Ace's benefit: A joke is a short story or short series of words spoken or communicated with the intent of being laughed at or found humorous by the listener or reader. Laughter, the intended human reaction to jokes, is healthy, uses the stomach muscles, and releases endorphins, natural happiness...

Not much of a spoiler anyway, though your last post is. There's probably worse spoilers if you read between the lines in the rest of this thread anyway ;) Also, the spoiler tags annoy the heck out of me since I primarily browse with the keyboard. And I'm not sure I can agree, though I really like tw...

OK, so I had to check the series out after this thread. Just finished the first book, and true to form, in about 4 consecutive hours of reading (and for me actually going rather slowly, to allow for thinking and analyzing). I kinda wish I had just put the book down after the final battle. All that s...

Re: Foundation: Asimov reigns, end of story ;) Read and re-read the series several times, including all the prequels and sequels. Some of my favourite scifi is by Ken MacLeod, though... especially The Stone Canal and The Cassini Division. Unless you can't stand, uh, alternative politics (he had trou...

I really like WoT up until about book 7 or so. From there on, it's gone downwards IMO, if not in the least because it's so damn slow going after that. Seriously, Winter's Heart and Crossroads of Twilight could easily have been compressed into about half a book, if not in the least because about 3/4 ...

this game would be great for ppl learning howto type. i dare any of you to switch to DVORAK keyboard layout and try this game heh  I use Dvorak almost all the time. This game doesn't register the Z key here for some obscene reason, so I got about nowhere... Otherwise I type 95 WPM at 96% a...

You LOSE. I've had mine for, oh, two years now  Back then 40 GB was big, so I have a 4x40 array in RAID5 = 120 GB usable. Well, it's fast for certain things. Oh, and AC... it's got a BIOS, and it doesn't need a backup battery. I've no idea why one's drawn on the PCB, but it stores all state inf...

[...] This stuff is, for the most part, not angled to be truthful or informative, it's an attack made by someone who's very Anti-Bush. [...] I very much appreciate you pointing this out (really, I do) - the world needs more objective thinking. But in politics (international especially), there is no...

Wow, Wolf on Air. Another example of ultraliberal propaganda and paranoia. You're talking to a 16 year old. Apply prejudice as neccessary to feel content ;) Maybe I'm ultraliberal, maybe I'm not. At least I'm not ultraconservative :P And hey, where would the world be without us crackpot liberal par...

I started to reply to this, but it's not worth my time or effort.... Then why in the name of sanity did you? It's not making you look any smarter, nor clarifying your point of view. It's not even a particulary clever way of suggesting everyone in this thread are idiots, if that is your goal. How's ...

Great. May you please hold off the global extermination until I've moved to a Mars colony? Because the keyword here is mad . Raving lunatics on either side don't know or care about collateral damage or losses to their own side as long as they get to make their point. I don't have a solution, but I'm...
