As for campaigns - check http://www.descent2.de . Pumo is also working on one that few people can wait for.

And you will need to replace the yellow door's Omega drops from blank to red key. Due to life circumstances I can't do that anytime real soon.

That disc-shaped robot looks like it was a planned boss to me...
The scene from VL2 (if we're talking about the same one) is actually from level 7. The grates block the area that you enter from above to get to the red key.

What's your theory about where the alien virus came from? Personally I think it was created by an alien race from some other planet.
