It's great. It address most aspects that you would want in a level. Great weapon balance. Small, Med, and Large rooms. Some ambush points.

I'll put one up on DRH. It'll stay up, as long as it gets played. :)

I know it'll at least be populated by SickOne and Darktalyn1. ;P

Maybe Foil may peek in there. :)

Absolutely. IMO it's one of the best designed D3 levels out there. The space is laid out well; there are plenty of dogfight and ratting areas which transition into each other. It's difficult to rely on a "crutch" (tank+tri, skippy+MD, BP+micro, anything+chucking) because of the layout and weapons availability. It's nicely interconnected.

Loved my last game in there. Sad that it got down to too few players to be interesting, and then I had to feed the baby.

I've barely had time to play anything lately, but I'll try sometime. I definitely enjoy SLW.

I would likely be there looking/hoping for games.
I would also be getting my ass kicked, but that is
not the point for me any more. Just having fun is.

I really don't remember Skin... I remember we played it a lot at weekly LAN.
So I must like it ??

I just want players :) an Old Man Must Dream!!

SLW was a joint effert between several level designers, was it not? There was a great deal of fan fair when it was released. ... about the same time the area mod was developed if memory serves..

SLW is credited to Nirvana here: http://www.roncli.com/pages.asp?PageID=12

I don't remember, but I could ask Nirv.
He was a good level guy, no doubt. In Doom as well(yes I have known him a long time... crap I went to his high school graduation (I was the old perv in the stands :) )

Truly I am just surprised he had time to build levels
given all the time he and Birdseye spent doing unspeakable things to gerbils and sheep.

I should post some of the videos... no not of that, of the weekly LAN nights :)

In all seriousness. Looking back I didn't realize how
lucky I was then. Some of the top notch players beat on me weekly, Birds, Nirv, Vander, Rock, Mayhem...
The list goes on. We had many great guest players, and a lot of good times. Then if you look, some of the favorite levels of people were done by Nirv and Vander.

God I miss those days

SLW was a pretty sweet level as I recall. Haven't set foot in there in years though.

Sicky,

You guys had it good, that's for sure :) Must have been an awesome way to play the game. Lanning with top players on the regular. Too bad for me, I moved to SoCal about 7 years too late :)

DT,

I was in Northern Cali then... well they call it northern. I was right in the heart of Silicon Valley. Los Altos, a town right next to Sunnyvale, Palo Alto, etc.

It was good no doubt. Not just the gaming, but we had a lot of fun otherwise as well.

SLW was mine and mine alone. I love that level and thank you, Lothar, for your kind words. The only level that I worked on that eclipsed it in my mind was SML (Serial Murder Lullaby), but I think it was mostly misunderstood/the descent world wasn't ready for it yet (or maybe I'm a retard :P).

There was a level set that was released for D3 years ago and I thought SLW was apart of that. (probably wrong) It was about the same time if not THE same time, that the Area mod came out.

help me jog my memory here.... :P

If it was released as part of a level set, I don't know anything about it. I also don't know what the area mod is...

Though, I believe I gave Roncli permission to modify the map for the shaker mod.

Those that know him will most certainly lean toward the \"retard\" option.

I just hate to think how much duct tape was used,
and how many gerbils died in the making of SLW and SML.

By the way Nirv... it is damn nice to see you poking around a bit. It was really great playing with you and Wastemore, Typhoon, Jeremy, Grendel.

I hope to see a lot more of that kind of play.

I liked SML. I had a lot of fun in it with my brother, even if it was a little big.
