Design a robot contest

Hello all descentrs

I have been building a descent clone for the last while, and you can see it in the "other 6DOF efforts" forum
Well, I have a problem, and that problem can be solved by anyone here. I have this inability to design awesome looking robots/enemies, so here is the contest:

1) Think up the coolest, awesomest robot possible, that you would like to fight against
2) Draw it. a 3 view is preferred, but any concept drawings will do.
3) Submit it here, in this thread.

4) If I like it, or enough others like it, it will be made, and then put in future updates to the game (there will be many)

Things to keep in mind:
There are huge poly restrictions on the game, so simple blocky shapes are better than flowing organic ones. Also limit the number of cylinders and spheres.
Few moving parts, if any, please, as these are hard to get working properly in the game engine.
You can use any weapons you want, even create new ones. Saws, beams etc. I will try and do them.
If you want, you can also state the speed, and armor. If you don't I will just assign a number I feel appropriate.

This contest will close when I have enough designs.

Show me that secret design you've wished to see in descent for years....

Oh, I'm not asking for models (I can't convert between descent format and the mesh type I'm using), only concept art.
But I will talk to MetalBeast anyway, and see what he has.

Something random, maybe?

Awesome, I might just have to replace some of the spheres with other shapes, but otherwise it's looking good.

Do you have a name for it?

I'll start work on this now, and post an image when I'm done.

Hi,

In my gallery there is a new folder "Robot concepts".

There are already few of my older robot concepts, never finished.
Fell free to remodel them or use as inspiration.

I will put more of them, if I will find any in my big screenshot-folder ;)

This is from a descent clone I'm working on myself. Probably has too many polys, but it hasn't been optimized

Yeah it does have a few to many polygons.
If you want me to include that in my clone you may want to make a lo-poly version and then bake the Ambient Occlusion of the high poly one and apply it to the lo-poly. Or if you provide me with the high poly and lo poly one I can do the baking.
It's an awesome design, and a reasonable candidate for a boss robot.
I would say between 400-500 polys would be fine for it (and the game engine).

Exactly, it's designed to be the boss in my game "Infiltrator". I will be happy to share the lower poly one once I get it optimized.

Sorry for off-topic, but I love your Black Pyro model. Man, that was my favourite ship, it is almost calling me to buy a new joystick and play D³ again :)

Make em with this!

This thing is way too cool. Lol, if i had one of these as a kid we would have to had several storage buildings to hold all the crap i would have built. I'm getting one :)

I wish I had one of those, but alas, I have neither the time nor money at this stage. I do however have a friend who is in the process of making one, so, maybe I can try a few things.....

I know it's been about a year, but...

The Amakari shoots some semi-uber missile, and insta-kills anything that touches one of its four orbs.
