Adding breifings for D1 Levels

Post by Stroodles »

A few questions, actually. I'm making a series of some D1 levels. I have a series of questions.

Firstly, how do I add the briefings? The screen with Dravis across from you, the robot introductary screen, and the planet screen.

Secondly, can you add custom music for standard d1 levels? I don't wanna run any add on programs like D1X Rebirth or D2X-Xl. I'm making levels in DMB2, but I have DLE-XP if that's neccassary for changes.

Thirdly, how can I copy levels between computers? I have a couple computers that I'm playing the levels on. I've managed to get the levels between computers, but it always takes me half an hour, in some long process which I can never remember the next time around. If someone has a set method, I'd love to know.

Thanks, Stroodles =)

Try HERE

There are a number of utilities. The images have to be added to each briefing and as they are basically a .bmp file that is renamed it will bloat your level file to near \"epic\" size. That is to say that instead of your file being 800k it might top 2 meg depending on size and number of levels that are in the final product.

A bump, Duper's link has died, I believe that site was taken down. Unfortantly, I lost track of my D1 music editing software (the one that lets you switch out and in midi tracks), and I can't remember what it's called, so i can't look it up on the intrawebz. Does anyone know what software I'm talking about, or a similar software, and can they give me a fresh link to it if possible?

I'd greatly appreciate it.

DTX lets you swap music, but its conversion from midi to hmp has been known to cause problems... (crashing the game when the music loops, when you're exiting the mine, etc.)
MID2HMP is apparently better, but I never figured out how to use it.

Follow this link http://www.descent2.com/tools and scroll down to \"resource tools\". Both DTX and MID2HMP are there. I checked and the downloads are still working (which is something of a miracle).
