Opinions about the Entropy Experiment

I've completed the first two levels of this mission pack, and here's what I have to say:

- The cube geometry is very advanced, this is good
- I like the way the author tinkered with the robots to make exclusively color-coded sets of robots more complete as a challenge
- I really like the way he uses textures
- The difficulty is alright
- BUT... the author's definitely got a symmetry fetish...

Yeah, that was in vogue in the late 90s.

Huge fan of Luke Schneider here. Yes, the symmetry is annoying to me, but overall I like Entropy I & II better than most of Counterstrike and Vertigo. The mood is more intense.

I have to agree, these levels are some of the most beautiful I've played, in the artistic sense. And level 3 isn't even symmetric either.

The mood is very dark and sullen indeed, much more moody than the stock missions. I'm gonna keep playing to see the rest of the levels.

Even though the textures are very colorful and vivid, when playing I cannot but think 'Omg, THIS IS DESCENT".

I'm not replicating any of my posts because I don't want to cross-post, but in the Descent Single Player thread you can find a pretty decent write up I just made for Level 2 on Entropy, which just by looking at the map is easily the biggest offender in terms of symmetry.

I must agree that E.E. is cool. And it really gets interesting with the briefing pre-level 4 ;)

Level 4 of EE1 isn't entirely symmetric either. In EE2, Level 4 also isn't symmetric.

One interesting trivia about the EE series is, while Level 3 of both are very red, they have no fire. In fact I'm not even sure you see fire a single time in the entire EE series after the very first room in Level 1 of EE1. Both have a water theme level though.

Symmetry was common in this era, but most sets not just EE have an exception or two. Examples:

Phobos Encounter - Level 2 and a bit of asymmetry on Level 3
Project: Mandrill - Level 4 (also his first ice level since Chasm)
Obsidian - Some levels are symmetric and some aren't
