Steve-O seemingly demands to hand select next year's Senate candidates for the GOP, save Ted Cruz(oddly, given Cruz is now trailing his Dem rival in fundraising and is polling badly early on). Well, his first pick was Roy Moore in Alabama. Nice vetting process. Apparently, old Roy has trouble keeping any gun in the holster.

one thing, though......I am pretty disgusted at the moral emptiness shown by the Republican party of late. At least, we can rest assured that they can't accept defending the sexual assault of mino........oh, crap!

When people on the left are accused of doing something like this, they're always a bunch of evil liberal perverts by definition, the claims of the accusers are always 100% true and the behavior has been suspected all long, so they need to stand up and take their punishment and quit whining. When people on the right are accused of doing something like this, the perpetrators are always the epitome of righteousness, the accusers are always liars who are just out to smear their reputations OR it's nothing but "Fake News". If the accusations are eventually proved to be true, then these perpetrators usually excuse their behavior as they're being "weak" or "Biblical" and to just forgive them and let bygones be bygones. So, what ever happened to following the Republican Party's mantra, you know, the one about taking some personal responsibility for your actions?

Oh my God! The Alabama GOP and Moore ARE going down the Biblical route. They're calling it the "Mary and Joseph did it" defense for explaining the legality of Moore's little pedophilia incidents years ago. I'm willing to bet that the average male in the U.S. would be scorned and promptly tossed in jail after roundly being charged with child sexual abuse or child rape. This "defense" is something so old, only Muslim men get away with it in their own countries now. And I thought a Sharia Law type of defense would never, ever be used here. Silly me.

Yeah, I know. But I just couldn't believe that most religious Alabamans would actually hold their noses and take the bait, hook, line and sinker and actually defend this bastard (even though most of those hoity toity pompous religious people openly reviled all those Hollywood elites caught doing similar nasties) and essentially with straight faces be A OK with something that goes on regularly in the Muslim world between older men and young girls. Where's the outrage now? A man in a position of power who coerces a 14 year-old girl into taking off her clothes, then touching her breasts and forcing her to touch his genitals through his underwear is a child molester according to U.S. law, no matter how anyone parses it. As for why these woman all waited for years to report it, they wouldn't have been believed and would have been vilified until recently, and Moore still claims that they're all a bunch of liars and all his supporters are echoing it, even with all that's been going on in the news. I will have to thank Hollywood for at least helping to rip the scab off of an age old national paternalistic secret.

I guess where the Dems now have no moral leg to stand on is because of the precedent our past wonderful sex Pervert-in-Chief Bill Clinton set back in the 1990's. He essentially got away with abusing his sexual powers, so why can't others emulate him from now on without fear? Pussy Grabber-in-Chief Trump has already proved that that's the case, that any man or politician that's accused of any sexual impropriety, even with children, can now get elected to office without anyone batting an eye.

at NO TIME, did Blil Clinton come REMOTELY close. REMOTELY. Find me the underage minor, or the person he had to ply with liquor. Find me one such victim and I'll agree.

Don't get your unders in a bunch slick. I'm in no way accusing Bill Clinton having anything to do sexually with underage girls. I AM pretty much saying Bill Clinton gave us Donald Trump. What Bill Clinton did was to make sexual impropriety and accuser bashing an OK practice, something that party-line voters would choose to ignore when voting for their politician of choice. The evidence of that precedence is with the recent election of Donald Trump. Out of his own mouth, Trump proved beyond a doubt to everyone with that leaked Billy Bush video that he's a womanizing slimeball that views women as personal sexual toys and yet despite all that, the prick still got himself elected President. His base, even women, chose to totally ignore that air of stink and gave him their vote. I'm sure their thoughts on the matter were: "If your guy can get away with it, so can ours". Sexual escapades obviously didn't matter anymore in the mind of a LOT of American voters in 2016. Maybe sex with children will be the line that can never be crossed, but we'll see what happens with Moore. The guy STILL has his supporters and he's doing exactly what Clinton did, vilifying his accusers as liars and standing firm. Moore's even doubling down and said he's going to sue the Washington Post for libel. Now that'll be entertaining.

Back to Bill Clinton. In 1992, when Jennifer Flowers came forward, Bill Clinton right off the bat vehemently denied the accusations and called her a liar who was just trying to smear his reputation (sound familiar?). To add insult to injury, enough Dem voters believed him over his accuser and formed up behind him in lockstep support. So even AFTER Flowers publicly revealed her little extramarital affair with Bill, BEFORE THE ELECTION I might add, Most Dem voters ignored that little bit of dirt and scandal and Ol' Clinton went on to defeat George H.W. Bush. Then while Bill was president, he STILL couldn't resist his urges with a love truck intern, Monica Lewinsky, and got himself into even more sexual trouble. He even had the gall to sit in front of the American people and lie to us about it. Quote: "I DID NOT HAVE SEXUAL RELATIONS WITH THAT WOMAN." Even his wife, Hillary, went on her own little vendetta and attempted to smear all of Bill's accusers. Yet, in the end, it turned out that all those women were being truthful in their accusations. And you know what frosted me about that? After he was impeached by the House and acquitted by the Senate, Bill Clinton stood there in the Rose Garden with his chin held high like an arrogant prick, surrounded by a few loyal suck up Dem supporters who should have instead very publicly distanced themselves from the man. I personally believe that Al Gore was burned by this very action, when he stood right next to a confirmed sexual predator and almost impeached President in stoic support. I know that's why I never gave my vote to Al Gore in the next election. Apologies are hollow, actions speak volumes.

oh, don't get me wrong. Bill Clinton, while a bright man when looking at real-world issues, has little self-control. I don't really see a clear path from that to Trump(simply arrogant with fake power and dumb as a brick).

If you can't see the connection slick, you'll never understand why the Republican base was willing to overlook some similar sexual impropriety and elect a womanizing prick like Trump. The Democratic Party should've severed all connections to the Clintons, and Hillary, right after his little loss of self-control became a national circus in the late 1990's.

at the time, I decried his running for re-election. But, at age 40 or so, not too many folks heard my opinion, and it was a minority opinion at the time. I disagree that Hillary should have been shunned for Bill's actions, as that is sort of not exactly the Dem position on blaming women.

Here's a thought. If Bible thumpers in Alabama are going to use the Joseph and Mary defense of Roy Moore, aren't they a little confused? I thought that Jesus was conceived through immaculate conception and was not the prodigy of actual human intercourse? If that's the case, maybe Joseph and Mary never had teenage intercourse to begin with anyway.

I guess you can say that about most any rapist. I wonder if a rape kit was ever used on JB and if so, what happened to it. I suspect none was used as Clinton more than likely squashed it.

I'm inclined to believe her. She had no reason to make this stuff up. It was insulting enough to get her sordid story and situation drug through the media and still be vilified by a powerful man who got off scott free. A portion of her deposition.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juanita_Broaddrick
Jaunita Broaddrick wrote:Then he tries to kiss me again. And the second time he tries to kiss me he starts biting my lip … He starts to, um, bite on my top lip and I tried to pull away from him. And then he forces me down on the bed. And I just was very frightened, and I tried to get away from him and I told him ‘No,’ that I didn’t want this to happen but he wouldn’t listen to me. … It was a real panicky, panicky situation. I was even to the point where I was getting very noisy, you know, yelling to ‘Please stop.’ And that’s when he pressed down on my right shoulder and he would bite my lip. … When everything was over with, he got up and straightened himself, and I was crying at the moment and he walks to the door, and calmly puts on his sunglasses. And before he goes out the door he says ‘You better get some ice on that.’ And he turned and went out the door.”
You'll also notice a theme here. Clinton was an Attorney General and Moore was an Assistant Attorney General at the time of their little sexual predations. So much for defending the law.

Now we know where Trump stands. He'd rather see an accused pedophile Republican, Roy Moore, elected to the Senate than a Democrat. What a twisted sense of morality. Tribalism over values.

Like I said somewhere else, if the Republicans are willing to elect and seat an accused pedophile, I say Frankin and Conyers should stay. Why have one set of rules for your team and then apply a different set of rules for the other team. But if Republicans stick to their moral principles and manage to keep that sick bastard out of the Senate, or even if Jones, the Alabama Democrat, manages to get elected, Frankin and Conyers should go. It's only fair.

here is Conyer's personal statement. I was wrong, he resigned and was not removed. Still, contrast this, and the 'allegations' against him versus Moore, or more pertinently Trump.

"After careful consideration and in light of the attention drawn by recent allegations made against me, I have notified the Democratic Leader of my request to step aside as Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee during the investigation of these matters.

I deny these allegations, many of which were raised by documents reportedly paid for by a partisan alt-right blogger. I very much look forward to vindicating myself and my family before the House Committee on Ethics.

To be clear, I would like very much to remain as Ranking Member. There is still much work to be done on core concerns like securing civil rights, enacting meaningful criminal justice reform, and protecting access to the ballot box.

These challenges could not be more pressing in the face of an Administration that cares little for the rule of law and a President whose actions and conduct cheapens our discourse every day.

But I have come to believe that my presence as Ranking Member on the Committee would not serve these efforts while the Ethics Committee investigation is pending.

I cannot in good conscience allow these charges to undermine my colleagues in the Democratic Caucus, and my friends on both sides of the aisle in the Judiciary Committee and the House of Representatives.

I am proud and fortunate to be part of a legacy of more than 50 years of fighting for civil rights and making our country more equitable and just.

I’ll never allow that legacy – a legacy I owe to my father John Conyers, Sr., who integrated labor unions, or my two amazing sons John III & Carl and my loving wife Monica, and the extraordinary people of Detroit – to be cast aside, or these causes to be in any way diminished.

I am grateful to my colleagues who have called for due process before weighing judgment. I would urge them to continue to do so for any Member accused of wrongdoing. Basic fairness requires no less."

Class, and decency, personified. That is why any cheap equivalences between him, or Franken, and the dirtbag in the Oval Office illegally, are laughable.

Well, they're currently doing the "What applies to you doesn't apply to us" dance pretty well right now. Pelosi just asked for Conyers to resign. Conyers predictably told her he wouldn't. I say he and Frankin should wait and leave only when Trump and Moore step down as well.

Don't be so sure woody. Moore just may win in Alabama for this one reason, that they hate liberals more than an accused pedophile. Then the Senate Republicans may have to suck it up and make a hard choice. Seat Moore or oust him from office. You're also ignoring what the current president has actually admitted to, on video, woody. I don't see any Republicans outright calling for Trump to resign, do you?
