Definitely a bit too big. Though on another forum site I read, someone has a 700KB animated GIF avatar. Image

I didn't say ALL, I said most.

Browsing most websites anymore Requires braodband for a load time under 60 seconds.

Waiting is part of 56K. whats 15 seconds more? ...15 seconds

Duper, there is a huge difference between a 14kB banner and a 240kB avatar. What's to stop say...AceCombat from slapping a 5MB GIF on his server and using that as his avatar? You still going to use the "nearly everyone has broadband so it doesn't matter" defense? That ship won't sail dude, and you damn well know it. The issue is NOT that his avatar is animated, but the FILESIZE.

Actually I personally don't care so much about the file sizes of animated avatars (except if they're in the megabyte class), just that they're animated is more annoying. Something moving or flashing or whatever on the edge of the page makes reading the text itself a bit less comfortable.

It matters because its too ****ing large on the filesize department. I wasn't aware that you spoke for everyone Ferno. Image

File size or not, I do believe that is the best avatar I've ever seen on this BB.

No we are not. Every other forum I read does not allow image signatures. A few don't allow animated avatars either.

Image signatures are just annoying to me. Would you attach an image to every email you sent out? I can assure you that people would quickly get annoyed at you if you did that.

And I do believe the DBB still has a policy about avatar size. Isn't the size limit somewhere around 5KB or so? Image

Actually Mojo, I'vd seen better. Not that this one isn't any good, But I've seen some pretty kickass avatars out there.

*sigh* ok.. my god I can't believe how bent outta shape ppl get here over small stuff.

You are being facetious, right? Of COURSE 5 MB would be a bit high. duh! but 240kb? ....dude.... get a grip. that's barely a drop in the bucket. And what's to stop Ace using a a 5 mb? hrmm ... well.. you. Just raise the limit a bit. Personally, I don't care, but quibbling over a couple of hundred kb? that's a bit silly.

I only mentioned animated avartars because typically they are larger. .. BUT not ALWAYS .... seems I have to clarify everything here these days. Here's another thing. The active "community" is barely clearing what.. 150 ppl IF that? My point here is ...awe screw it.. it doesn't matter anyways.
