Retrovirus: Paragon Editor "Champion" required. Is it you?

Hello Gentlemen,

The Retrovirus editor "Paragon" (which I have just been kitted out with, all 18GB of the development environment!) will become available at the launch of the game in December. However, at that stage it will have no documentation and precious little information in the Wiki. Cadenza are polishing the actual tools head of the release, however.

Cadenza is hoping that over the next few weeks, someone from within the Descent community will put their hand up to become their "Paragon Champion". That person will get access to Paragon immediately, and also receive 8-10 hours of hands-on training with Dylan Barker, and then they can cut loose with it. (The training sessions will be recorded and stored at own3d streaming, so that others can take advantage of them, at a later time.) That person will be asked to document what they discover in the Paragon Wiki, and to also provide assistance to people asking questions about Paragon in the "Retrovirus Modding and Level Building" forum - until such time as the documentation and Wiki can be rounded out - roughly 1-2 months after the game goes gold.

Once that task is completed, it is hoped that the modding community will already have built quite a bit of stuff, and be ready to almost stand alone, with answers being supplied without too much help from Cadenza. Although saying this, someone will devote some time each week to addressing Paragon issues in the forums.

SO! If you are interested in modding Retrovirus INTO Descent, or taking the game in a new direction, or want to create something entirely new, or wanting to build some levels for Retrovirus ahead of launch, and are prepared to commit some of your resources to assisting other people in using Paragon, then please get in touch with Spencer Roberts: sroberts at cadenzainteractive dot com. More than one "Champion" is a possibility, provided you can co-ordinate yourselves to attend the training sessions simultaneously.

Perhaps you might like to discuss this among yourselves, and see if there's more than one person wanting to do this? Avder has expressed interest, and we know Valin is busy on his Unreal engine effort.

I most certainly am NOT the Paragon Champion, as I am not a programmer, or designer, and my interest starts with being able to snap the models and resources for the RVHelp web site, and ends with creating some old D3 maps.

I don't think I'm cut out to be that champion. I just wanted to poke around in the editor and maybe see about designing a couple decent levels ahead of the launch. I'm not much of a wiki editor or particularly good at documenting.

I'd really like to but I'm really trying to concentrate on my studying this year -- plus I already have two jobs to hold down and I'm thinking of getting a third to help pay tuition.
So it has to be no, no matter how much I want it to be yes.

Ah well, maybe someone will be interested later in the project, closer to Christmas.
