How many of you got it and your thoughts if you did.

Got it. I was expecting more. I thought they would of provided a 3-4 level demo and not just 1 level with nothing to do but get a key and blow the reactor. The new Temple map is nice. Would make for a great MP level. Love the new robots and weapons.
Overall I'm happy but I won't be playing it over and over again. Not sure, but something is still missing to make it like D1/2 in terms of replay value.

There is no game like D2 that I have played over and over for 20 years. Not even Diablo.

It was good. Re-convinced me my $120 was worth it. :D The new bots are really cool and Allister Brimble's music tracks were great.
I wanted more but don't we all?
...
Personally I hope they add control panels or some other way of actually interacting with the game's world -- it's the main reason I so much prefer the planets of D2 over D1.

This is literally the only 6DoF game I've been somewhat optimistic about since D2. And no surprise, as Matt, Mike, and the team are heading it. I expect something finally true to Descent when this comes out. Now, it's no Inferno (my prospective Descent spiritual successor). But it's obviously not trying to be a radical re-imagining with level design that boldly explores 6DoF spaces in a way never done before. The aesthetic is nice, it doesn't look bloated, and it retains the spirit. But as zoog said, the trailer depicts much too much horizontality in the level design. And they need to get away from gray. All the walls in the trailer are grey. Don't make the mistake D3 did.

Descent: Underground on the other hand was probably the worst news in 6DoF development I've gotten in some time, and that's saying a lot. Pretentious, based on audience-drooling spectacle, and filled to the brim with cheesy audio taunts. Screw Underground, I'll let the masses eat it all up.
I'm unable to play the demo because I'm on Linux. Does the criticism basically sum up the demo as well?

I wouldn't characterize it as excessively horizontal (the training level, maybe, but it's a training level) - but overuse of gray is definitely a problem.

My impression is that it's because they don't have the art for anything else done yet; it's just a demo issue.

There was a good deal more verticality in the new mission than in the previous one, and some evidence of colour :P. Whether it's enough to sate our voracious appetites... well, it's not as though there's an NDA. I'll try to get some video evidence for you all when I've got the time. :)
...
The new challenge level is laid out very vertically -- think of map 19 from D1 if you remember it. But, like in that map it's really only the layout that's vertical.

So I recorded that video this morning. I set it to unlisted to show at least a little respect to the game's in-development state so you'll only be able to get to it from this post. Lucky you!

Right now this isn't even the latest demo -- stuff can change and it has since this was put out, particularly the framerate which has had a dramatic increase even on my little laptop.

Rawr.

Also I still haven't figured out the youtube tags on this board, so you get a link. Deal with it. :P

Excellent. Much better than the previous teaser. Great sound design. It has the mark of Parallax on it for sure.

Anyone know if there will be droppable cameras and the rear view camera?
