If anyone can decrypt that, I would be surprised.
I haven't lost my mind, it's backed up on disk somewhere.

Can we get any kind of basis for this? or do we start from base-line-zero?

Remember a VITAL rule of cryptography.

ASSUME THE SYSTEM IS KNOWN.

Provide us with the source, and you might get some folks interested. Otherwise, people are unlikely to put any time into it.

For folks that like cryptography, I recommend The Crypto Forum

It moves kinda slow, but has some really cool crypto stuff. There are a couple of VERY skilled cryptographers who visit there on a regular basis and discuss ideas, exchange code, and try to challenge each other.

well, the thing is, if i were to give the source, all you would have to do is compile it and then run it

there is no key ... well, no user supplied key

also, you will never get the same output for the same message

Ah, well, you might want to consider changing that aspect of your system... :D

I depends on how the system is deployed.

No it doesn't. If you need to hide the source to keep it secure, its a worthless encryption program.

Seriously, fliptw is telling you the truth here. It may have been lots of fun to write, and I'm certain you learned some things. So I'm not saying you wasted your time. Good on you for writing it!

But if you are considering actually USING this program to protect ANY kind of sensitive data, you should change your mind. :)

It'a all laid out in "Kerckhoff's Principle".

A cryptosystem should be secure even if everything about the system, except the key, is public knowledge.

Someone WILL discover the alogorithm.
