Did a search and found no-one had mentioned this here yet.

An awesome cheap VR headset, apparently John Carmack of ID games is just sick of not having VR so he's decided to just force it out there into the world, into all our eager hands :D.
I think a lot of people got a look at this at E3.

Head tracking: 6 degrees of freedom (DOF) ultra low latency
Field of view: 110 degrees diagonal / 90 degrees horizontal
Resolution: 1280x800 (640x800 per eye)
Inputs: DVI/HDMI and USB
Platforms: PC and mobile
Weight: ~0.22 kilograms

and it's only $300

This is essentially a dev-kit prototype, there will be a consumer version later with perhaps even better specs, but i dunno if that's gonna only be $300. But everyone's just buying the dev-kit hehe, for $300 for VR specs with such awesome specs everyone's like DURRRR PURCHASE!! it's practically a no-brainer. I'm considering jumping onboard.

There's a Video about it on it's kickstarter page

I always said the only things needed to make Descent complete is positional sound and VR. Oh and one of those gyroscope chairs you see at the mall or fair sometimes >:).

I don't know, Roid, I think you did post it in the wrong forum. I spent some time last night looking into this, and then when I went to post about it I couldn't find the topic. :P

Here's a video of a talk between the inventor, a programmer from Valve, and Carmack, during which they politely ask Roid not to buy one. ;)

I think they mention Suncho's dad at 26:24!

What are you? In marketing? :P Your 1280 is going to be mostly overlap for perspective on the same content.

they're now also offering non-kickstarter preorders of it from the website.
http://oculusvr.com/preorder/
Price is the same, but it'll take a month or so longer (January) coz they're doing kickstarter run first.

That is a pretty low resolution. Granted, the concept is neat, but they need to increase the resolution to 1920x1080 per eye like modern 120Hz 3D displays.
