Descent: Maximum on pc

Post by coder »

I got a Descent: Maximum cd but found out that I can't play descent without a keyboard (Descent: Maximum is the descent 2 version for the psx). I looked at the files on the cd and found a file called \"Descent2.hog\". I tried to replace the original descent2.hog on my pc but it didnt work. When I tried to open it in a hog editor i found out that it is different from a normal hog. Its more like a hog for descent 3. It was very easy to write a unpacker for this kind of file. Its possible to put its .rl2 files in a hog and play them on a pc. Here is my unpacker: http://www.openftp.eu/openftp/STUFF/unhog.zip
(Crappy code but it works ;) )

I think you can only play descent: maximum legally if you own a psx. (and of course descent: maximum)
I hope its ok to post this here

I played it for PSX then PC. I got that mission early from PD.

D: Maximum is very short and easy to win than DII.

D: Maximum for PSX is ok, but for PC then too boring to play. Z.Z

There are a few levels in Descent Maximum that are really cool. The first of the ice levels and a couple of the water maps are simple, but sport very elegant layouts. :)

Seeing as you provide an EXE in the ZIP, I'm going to move this over to the Tech forum where it will get a bit more visibility.
