Creative WaveStudio Help

Post by Spidey »

Does anybody know if you can clip wav files in WaveStudio?

I have tried to search for the answer, but all the dumb search sites know is clip as in sound clip, not the action of clipping a file.

Clip not to be confused with crop…as way to many of the sites do.

Clipping is the removal of amplitude spikes.

It's been ages since I've used WaveStudio - is there any reason you can't use Audacity? I know it has the ability to clip.

Other than not having it, and my distaste for installing freeware on my work computer…no.

I need to clean some noise from 2 greeting messages I made, if I can’t use WaveStudio to do it, I will live with the noise.

But, thanks anyway.

Why would you care if the software is free or not? WaveStudio (at least a few years ago) isn't as good as Audacity. So if they are charged you $20, would you want it?

Try SoundBooth if you into "non freeware" software.

Ok, being free is not really the issue, I just don’t need any problems with my work box, and the software that tends to be the most problematic is the free stuff.

So for the record I’m not going to install any new software to do this small project, no matter the cost.

Audacity would do what you need. Cost never had, and never will, have any bearing on how problematic software is.

Ok, fine…I’ll qualify my statement.

It has been “my” experience of having more problems with freeware, and shouldn’t have been a blanket statement…

Are we done splitting hairs now?

I’m pretty sure WaveStudio won’t do what I want, but since I can’t get a simple answer…….

Forget I asked.

Isn't the ghetto way to do this to, say, raise the volume to 200% and then back down to 50%?

Creative's software especially demonstrates this. :P

Thanks Jeff…That actually worked for what I needed.

I owe you a beer, not for the solution…but for answering the question as asked.
