network stuff

Post by thewolfe »

I have 4 computers'

"Main" on Work - Network 5
"Spare" on Work - Network 2
"3rd comp" on Work - Network 2
"Laptop" on - Home network (wireless)

All networked computers can "see" all 4 computers EXCEPT Main can not access any of the other 3 computers.

Would it have anything to do with "Network 5" on the main being different that Network 2 on the other computers?

Can I wipe out all networking on all computers and start over again?

If Main can't access any of the other 3, then I would assume it's a permission issue. The Network 5 thing is just the times that PC has had to rename a network connection.

If the Main can't see the others, where should I look. it would seem to be a "Main" problem.

You said they can all SEE each other but Main can't access them. If this is the case, then you need to set the permissions on the other 3 that allows EVERYBODY access

I found this for "Users (DougSpare....." and the top 3 permissions weren't checked so I checked them and hit OK and got the error message.

Would this have any part in "Main" not seeing "Spare"?

Firstly, what are the windows versions installed on each computer. Secondly, don't share your C drive, share only specific folders. Third, don't blithely advise people to go mucking about with permissions.

Sorry for the delay but I got them all synced. I had to (for some reason) share again all folders on other computers with my main computer. Don't know why sharing got changed but all is well.
