How did Sugar effect you as a Child?

Post by roid »

do you remember sugary things making you go mental as a child? Not nessesarily coke because it has caffine in it. But more just sugary things like sweets, candy. When you ate them did you become a nightmare for your parents, uncontrollable, or just basically it had a BIG obvious and guarenteed effect on you?

Too much sugar actually sent me quiet. I'd kinda go into a 'hyperactive thought mode'. All thinking, no actions.

I'd look as if I was in a trance..

Didn't affect me as a kid. As an adult i very rarely eat anything sweet apart from fruit. I'm more of a savoury, spicy kind of bloke.

The very rare cases I bothered with sweets had no major effect. I would get a little hyper, but that's all.

I was a hyper child, so sugar made me a human tornado of destruction.

Sugar deadens me. I can't think properly, and I feel very sluggish.

I used to eat candy voraciously as a young child. Heck, I still do. :P As far as I know, it's never had any substantial effect on me. I was a pretty quiet child.

Had little effect on me, I would be much more energetic after a good real meal and the energy would last much longer.

*Eat a piece of candy, tear around 'till it wore off, repeat*

This wasn't a regular occurance, but it's one of those things I remember clearly--my brother and sisters and I experimenting with sugar highs outside of the local drugstore. :P

Those large Chewy Sweet Tarts are still one of my favorite candies. ;)

If I ate too much sugar, I would get an upset stomach and generally feel very sick.

Sugar didn't seem to overly affect me.

Why hasn't anyone said the most obvious?

SUGAR MAKES YOU FAT! At least, lots of it does. It certainly had that effect on me in my early teens.

Maybe because sugar doesn't make you fat. Taking in more calories than you burn makes you fat. It's simple thermodynamics. Sugar is one way to do that, but it also takes a sedintary lifestyle.

Burn 8,000 calories a day and you can eat all the sugar you want and still lose wieght. :P

Um... not to nitpick too much, but this little thing always annoys me it seems.

Effect is a noun. Affect is a verb. Choose the right one carefully. :)

Sugar has never had much of an effect on me. As a child, I could eat as much as I wanted, but it wouldn't cause me to become any more or less active. I could sit down and read a book or go outside and play with no apparant change in activity.
