Brightness setting ignored in D3 under XP

Post by kencl »

Hi Folks,

I'm having a problem with my Brightness setting in D3 under WinXP Home. The brightness slider, which I've set at 1.40, is ignored when I load a game. Every time I need to goto the brightness slider and slide it up to 1.42 (or back down to 1.40 depending which way I went last time) then click apply.

Anyone else having this problem? Any solutions out there, such as a config file setting or something?

I have D3 and the Mercenary expansion pack installed (and no, the problem existed before Mercenary was installed).

Thanks.

I had this problem also on my last XP pro build. It happened when I updated the monitor drivers for Windows. I've since reformated and haven't triued D3 yet.

it is most definitly an ati driver problem!! Thier d3d driver usually works ok, but i had major issues with thier opengl driver!! it wasnt that it crashed, just peformance suked and standard things like gamma, vsync ect, didnt work. the gamma issue came up over 2 1/2 years ago and i waited for over 9 driver releases and they never fixed it... guess they still didnt.

Rats. OK thanks for your input folks.

The other setting which doesn't like to hold is render distance, but I guess a few gotcha's like this will persist.

I've had quite a bit of success making older games run under XP, including Forsaken, Red Alert, Colin McRae Rally 2, 688(I) Hunter-Killer, Homeworld, F22 ADF...

See you in the mines!
