D1 Exit "Movies"

Post by Mister Wilson »

I'm running my D1 games out of my D2 install using D2X-XL. Win98 on a 1Ghz Pentium processor and 512 RAM. When the ship exits the mine, the system locks. Can I do something that will just end the mission and go to the scoring instead of playing the exit "movies"?

Found the INI file and removed the semicolon from the "no movies" switch. Will try that.

Thank you

Definitely not. It belongs in the d2x-xl bug report thread in the Descent Old Skool Forum.

D1 exit sequences aren't actual movies at all, though...

And in case you want a better explanation, the original post asked:
Can I do something that will just end the mission and go to the scoring instead of playing the exit "movies"?
This question doesn't belong in a d2x-xl bug report thread. He's asking for a workaround, which can and should be provided directly. The fact that he mentioned a bug is incidental; what he was looking for was the workaround.

His question belongs right where it is. If you want to copy the bug report into your thread, you can feel free to do that.

So, I repeat... leave the moderating to the moderators. :)

Which indicates a possible bug in D2X-XL, or something about how he has the d1 stuff set up is causing it. (not patched, or lord knows what else)

Anyways, here's a cookie Sirius

I think that if I had moderated the post, I'd have moved it (which I can't).

Actually I simply issued an opinion.

I thought that difference wasn't so hard to grasp.

... an opinion about how the moderators should be doing their job.... in response to a moderator telling people not to tell us how to do our job. It should not be so hard to grasp why this is looked down upon.

Anyway, I'm glad the guy got the answer he needed.

Lothar,

you are ridiculing yourself.

Stop trying to patronize board users who are quite a bit older than you.

The 'opinion' was a message rather to the thread author than to the mods, touchy boy.

So I guess if my grandpa was here you'd listen to his opinion? The older you are, the more your opinion is worth?
The 'opinion' was a message rather to the thread author
... and it was still wrong, as I explained. Because he was looking for a workaround, posting this in its own thread was the correct thing to do. If it was merely a bug report, then he should've posted it elsewhere.

I suggest you calm down and stop with the petty insults, both here and in PM's.

It's about patronizing ppl in the first place. Age comes second. I didn't expect that being too much for you to grasp. My apologies.

I suggest you find yourself something useful to do instead of blowing yourself up about such a peanut here.

OMG.

Bye bye. The thread is yours. I guess you can't live w/o having the last word anyway, so there you have it. ;)

Back on topic.

I don't have that problem playing D1-levels in D2X-XL. It even works with custom made levels.

Edit:
(and of course the exit sequences works too)
