Better yet, have it make you a batch file and save it to your desktop--no having to remember/write down IPs (don't forget to include your own D3's command line options, if you've set any).

I was wondering if that might have happened.. there's a first time for everything. I guess I should have tried something else when "You cannot make another post so soon after your last; please try again in a short while." came up after clicking the "submit" button.

yeah and if you go back and edit the double/triple post so that each contains useful info instead of repeated stuff you can play it off like you meant to do that.

You also need your server's Gamespy port.
The default Gamespy port is 20142.

Better yet, use Testi's D3Alias tool. Just run the program and type in the ip address of the game.

Games are also joinable from d3.descent.cx, Gamespy Arcade, Kali, and See Me Play Me.

Tried opening 20142 before posting :) I'm using D3Server2 BTW. I remember there's another port 71xx used by D3, but I don't think that would help. Maybe I should rephrase my question -- how do I let the games tracker @ http://d3.descent.cx/tracker.d3 know about my server ?

Make sure there's a file called gamespy.cfg in your main Descent 3 directory with the following contents:

Code:
 ----------------------------------
  0
 master0.gamespy.com:27900
  0
 tracker.kali.net:22999
  0
 tracker.descent.cx:27900
 ----------------------------------

It should be a breeze with D3Server2:

1. Check the "Use game trackers" checkbox under each server configuration

2. In the dialog box that opens, check "Descent.cx"

3. Permit the game tracker port (20142 by default, but must be different for each server if you're running multiple servers) on your firewall.

4. Either configure "Connection type" as TCP/IP, *or* check the "Automatic switch to TCP/IP when PXO is down"

If you can't make it work, please drop me an email at <esa@descent.cx> with your [firewall] IP address and I'll check the tracker logs.

I havn't tested it in XP, tho', so you're on your own if it doesn't work. I wrote it for 98, where there are no registry permissions, and I don't recall if the last build I posted included the registry location change (from HKLM to HKCU)

Welp, apparently I didn't!

I'll be updating this proggy soon since I'll be trying XP Pro on the game box, since everyone says it's done a fair job of running games.

Works fine for me in XP. What problems are you having?

Selecting main.exe won't work (you can pick it in the browse dialog but it won't be passed to the input line). Typing in the path works tho. I missed at least one of option (-subpixelcorrect, -nomotionblur IIRC), not sure if that's on purpose tho. Got impatient and copied & pasted my usual line w/o -launched and -player. Never saw the IP input line, launching D3Alias just launched the game so I dumped it..

Hmm. I have a different version from the one on PlanetDescent. I'd put it up for download but I'm not sure if testi wants me to distribute it.
