Since you two have years of negotiating deals, tell me how Trump blundered.

Oh, he just violated 37 years of US/China diplomatic policy. The last president who did that was Jimmy Carter. Plus, it looks like he's doing all this for a chance to get a Trump Hotel built in Taiwan. Nice. WWIII with China and all for yet for another Trump hotel somewhere in the world.

who was 'negotiating a deal'? What deal do you cut with nations that have no diplomatic ties with the US?

You ever think maybe he was shooting the first salvo in a negotiating strategy with China? Didn't think so. After 8 years of inept Obama I guess you got used to his floundering diplomatic style.

China will be eating us for lunch, what with dumping any TPP deal, pulling this isolationist crap or even threatening it, and blundering around the planet like a buffoon on Trump's part. Woe be to us.

Chinese have been eating us for lunch for years. That will stop when Trump takes office.

no, they haven't. You have no clue what you're babbling about. They have an economy fundamentally dependant on the US. Now, not for long.

Oh yeah, Trump makes lots of deals, but he shows no integrity while making them. And this is a comment from a Wall Street CEO on a morning CNBC show. He's following his "Art of the Deal" to the letter. How long will that benefit the U.S.?

I suppose you're right Grendel. But it's downright scary to see what's going on BEFORE Trump is actually inaugurated. The imagination runs wild.

If you can't tell the difference between those scenarios then you're not qualified to comment on them.

(Also yet again we see how political cartoonists are comprised of those who failed both journalism AND art school!)

You mean surrendering to tyrants and giving them money and trade in Obama's case while Trump risked ruffling the feathers of a tyrannical fascist oligarchy to speak to the head of a thriving democracy for a few minutes?

It's time our enemies feared us and our friends can count on us once again.

May I ask NS, do you consider Putin a "friend" of the U.S.? Trump seems pretty chummy lately with one of our oldest enemies. Maybe a little TOO chummy, like along the lines; "IF scratch your back, will you scratch mine".

Maybe I should have said "frenemy" then, because both our countries seems at odds over Ukraine and Syria, enough so that Putin considers nuking the U.S. as a viable option.

certainly a serious rival, real close to enemy from the later 1950s to the early 1960s.

you are losing, because you envy them(as does old Crazy Charlie) their ability to manipulate their populace. No other way. Find me one authoritarian regime who can touch us in innovation, commerce, strength of currency, or most any measure of quality of life. No, we are losing, if at all, to Democrat Socialist nations like Sweden, Norway and Denmark who are preparing for the 21st century, and India, who is determined to lead the free world into it.
