Road legal? Naahh!

Post by Tricord »

I just picked up a set of slick racing tyres from Michelin. Used, but still good to have fun on a track. These tyres cost around $200-250 a piece when new, I got the four for 100EUR, which is a pretty good deal. They should last 1500km on the track, which is about good for four full days.

This is going to be SICK! :D

The next track day is set for the 1st of october on the Zolder track in Belgium.

Yeah, slicks rock! When I raced a couple of bikes, I didn't have enough money for a car or trailer, but my sponsor (Agip) bought a second set of wheels, and I just used to ride my bike out to the track, on slicks...

Got caught once too, and managed to talk my way out of a fine: it was a gorgeous hot morning, and the "tread" wear holes had 7 mm of depth... ;)

Duh, that's because I went looking for them online and found sites quoting them in USD. But I obviously paid in EUR over here..

Anyway, for those who want a vid:

This is me going through the Raidillon on the Spa-Francorchamps track (regular engine, regular tyres, uprated suspension). One of the slower cars back then, but it can only get better :)

Michelin? You do realize they were sued because their tires blew out and killed a bunch of soccer moms right? :D

That's pretty sweet Tri. How much is track time there? (In USD, I'm too lazy to convert to Euro)

Spa-Francorchamps was about $300 dollars for the weekend (two full days). Zolder is $150 for one day. So that's pretty much the price when racing on a track with a good club. Without club membership, you easily pay twice as much for half the fun.
