Wow, for a minute there I thought this joker was really huge then I noticed there was a little forced perspective trickery going on. When you compare it to the partial hand that is holding it instead of the dude's leg in the background its not quite as scary. Still pretty big though.

So you're saying they chop you in half with a sword using the same predictable and repeated animations?

I still think a bear holding a shark is scarier. And if the bear had bees in its mouth, I would buy tickets to see it.

"This weird looking arachnid is not in fact a scorpion or spider at all but belongs to its own order- solifugid."

So - not a spider.

Spiders are great. Why the hell would you hate them? They get rid of disease-spreading insects! They are beautiful, and fragile and not-very-dangerous at all, unless you get unlucky.

yes sir, those are camel spiders. they look kinda like miniature flattened grenades with legs and a jaw.

they are viscous huge things, have HUGE jaws. and will chase you and even JUMP (quite high) at you, live in the arabian deserts. but yeah, have no poison, but it doesn't stop them chasing and chewing on you.

somethingawful.com used to think they were the coolest things on earth a few years ago :), that's how i know about them :P

interesting though, i never knew they wern't spiders.
i think our friend "laser spider" would kick it's ass though.

Looks like one was trying to chow down on the other.
Imagine waking up with these things in your sleeping bag... shudder.

That was funny. Anyone have the real pic?

I like spiders. They go really good with some pico de gallo on the side.

Lets see...as a kid, I kept wild turantulas in cages as pets (inexplicably, the other bugs I put in there kept dying...). The best place to find them was in my pool. Also, at night my dad and I would go hunting for scorpions with a blacklight and a hammer. Then in the day, we would go hunting for black widows under the old motor home with double cans 'o' raid.

Ah, those were the days :) and no, spiders don't bother me.

Yes, I remember seeing these spiders when I was deployed to Desert Storm in '91. Came back one night and found one on my bunk. Took about six smacks with a board before it stopped twitching. Saw one running around outside one night too. The SOBs are FAST.... I have picture of the one I killed, nasty looking beast...about the size of my hand.

kinda. the 2 front ones are used for catching prey. they are more like ARMS, clasified as a part of the mouth really.

and they're not spiders ;) (but are related, like scorpions, and are arachnids)
