Yeah. The control surfaces don't look like they're right.

I will say that there are planes that can fly knife-edge like that, and if the plane is in the red bull air race, it's one of those planes.

If you practiced enough times, I think you could pull that off with an RC plane.

I couldn't find it on snopes, though.

No Snoop. I've seen RC planes at airshows loose a wing. They fly like a rock after that. these are model planes that are nearly as large as cars. This vid is bogus. interesting but bogus.

I thought it could've been done as an RC plane, with way too much thrust for the weight. It sounded, and flew, like a lightweight RC plane. When I saw the pilot get out, it was obvious the video was fake. I know airplanes, I know what real competition pilots do, and that's definitely NOT it.

Also note, the supposed pilot doesn't have a wikipedia page, and he's not listed on the Red Bull Air Race pilots page. His homepage describes his plane as a G-300. The only G-300 airplanes I know of are this Gulfstream 14 seater and this RC plane.

The only airplane I've ever heard of landing with one wing was that Israeli F-15 back in the eighties that mid-aired an A-4 during a practice dogfight...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QArzU1H7fog (everything before about 4:20 is \"dramatization\" - the stills after that show the actual plane).

Um, RC planes can easily fly with one wing. The rudder becomes the lift, experiened RC pilots do it all the time. You can also get an RC plane to hover in mid air with it spinning slowly, it takes a ton of practice but is definitely doable.

There are other planes that have landed with severe wing damage (was it the A-10 they said could fly with half a wing?) but they don't pull the sort of acrobatics you see in the video. Real airplanes with half a wing can sometimes be kept stable with enough thrust and keeping them straight and level, but they're not going to flip sideways like the plane in the video.
