I would like to come to a Lan Fest... Dallas is pretty close to Oklahoma City where I live... however it will be a while before can go to a LanFest due to my car needing to be replaced due to some oddball electrical problem where something is draining the battery when the car isn't started for 3 to 7 days.

:P

Oooooh... only 8 hours from here, that would rock! Seriously doubt the wife would let me go for a LAN party, though...

Is that safe?
Do women need an uninteruptable-power-supply to safely transport them? hmmmmmmm *ponder*

As someone who has been to ThunderBunny's ShadowLAN center, I can vouch for the place - very cool, and a great atmosphere. I wish we had one up here in Denver. :P

The wife probably wouldn't mind going, it's my 4 kids that I couldn't handle the 8-hour trip with... though the two oldest love Descent.

Try first:

2nd: new battery

If that still doesn't do it, put an ammeter in line with the hot lead and pull fuses one at a time from the fuse panel to find the faulty circuit.

Whoa, dont throw parts at it just yet. If the below statement doesn't work, go get your alternator tested. Do you have any aftermarket systems on your car? (stereo, alarm)
And if its reallyreally cold where you live, that might be a factor.

The car should really be in a new thread area now.

I WOULD LOVE to go to a LAN party this summer! I'd love to meet everyone that I play with! But IDK if my parents would approve and money is starting to get just a little tight.

Price for venue rental should be a question that you all should ask.

BlunderFunny, you should throw the LAN.

If you schedule it, they will come. Have room for people with their own computers, ++ stations for rent for noobs who don't BYOC.

I would go, provided you give me enough time to start saving up for it. I'd even pay the door fee in advance. I have friends and family in Texas (San Antonio & Galveston), this would be a fun summer or fall trip.

So who all would go?

I've got relatives in San Antonio. Maybe I can get my parents to go. Mom could visit with my aunt (her sister) and my dad could be with me at the party.

How much D1 and and D2 will be played? If any decent amount and a good schedule no way I'd miss out.

wow... I think the last Descent Lan Party was the one in the San Jose area of California ? Like 9 or 10 years ago. (we took over my companies building from Friday afternoon till late Sunday)

That was back when I knew people who played :)
I still have video of that somewhere.

Califest '03 at Hurricane Internet?

...or did you mean one of the previous incarnations?

'03 was the year I moved. I don't think I played a lick even early in '03. I know I didn't make any LAN parties.

Damn I am getting old, I started playing D1 like 15 years ago...

There was a small LAN in New York organized by Candy and CrossBones in '07. That's the last one I know of.

IF...and I'm saying IF...there is enough interest in a D3 Lan party at my biz, we need a 3rd party to be the organizer to put it together.

Foil? Got any ideas? ;)

The hood light, trunk light, and the automatic antenna connections were and are all currently disconnected... before my post was made.

Have a GREAT Descent 3 Lan Party ALL!
