galvanized steel table?

Post by Isaac »

I have some extra sheets of galvanized steel and decided to put them on my old desk, because it makes a nicer surface. Now I'm wondering if there's any danger to being in constant contact with this kind of metal. I know it's really bad to breath this stuff, when you're cutting it.

Only if your middle name is Nevr-Dull

I seem to have a better workout dodging your stupidity than attempting to grasp the weight of your intelligence.

I think you're fine.

I don't have a good grasp on how quickly the galvanize would wear off... you might end up feeling like the surface is perpetually dirty. Especially considering the fact that application of water accelerates the process.

Personally, I'd paint it. Probably after attaching it to the table.

Zinc toxicity can have neurological implications - but I think that's probably the least of YOUR worries.

Hey, if you think I'm bad now, wait till I'm a Zinc/Isaac alloy.

My skin that comes in contact with the metal starts to smell a lot like my guitar strings. That's fine for my guitar, but not for a table I plan to spend hours working on. So I'm putting the sheet metal back later today when I get home.

Put a clear-coat on the metal.

I would but... it's too hot outside... and it's not a necessity.

Thanks though.
