Hard Drive File Recovery with NTFS...

Post by Avder »

Ive recentl discovered that a few files from one of my hard drives have gone missing. The first thing I did was to run a file recovery program I have called file scavenger, and I have been able to find two of the lost files that way in perfect condition. I would probably be able to recover all of the lost files, except that file scavenger gives an error and stops when it hits a bad sector, and I dont have the time to restart it from every sector so it can scan the entire 120 gigs of space. So, what I'm looking for is a utility that will scan the drive for files that have for whatever reason become lost and disassociated from the NTFS file table, and can copy said files to another drive.

As soon as I have all the data on this drive backed up I will be calling the manufacturer to aquire a replacement drive. I'd like to get this done as soon as possible so that I can stop worrying about wether or not more files are going to start vanishing on this computer.

So, suggestions?

I got the program, now all I need is a serial so I can use the copy feature. It found about 90% of the files that are missing by scanning the logical drive's file system. Is there a really really really deep scan that could possibly find ALL of the files I'm missing?

If the files are important, pay for the software. And yes, a deep scan will more than likely find more files.

take a look here http://www.r-undelete.com/ versions of this are used by u.s law-inforcement forensic labs, very good at recovering and remapping individal bits.
