Halflife2 Gamma/Brightness

Post by Iceman »

I broke down and bought HL2 with a rebate from BB the other day and ... just like the demo I downloaded ... I can't see sheeut. I [edit]dropped[/edit] the gamma from in the game as far as it would go but I still can't see sheeut. I am using a Radeon 9800/256 ... can anyone else see sheeut with this card? Any tweaks or other sheeut?

I have the 9800 Pro 128mg and it works fine. In the game there is a gamma setting. Try that. Also, try using a diff monitor and see if yours in dying.

In HL2, the lower the gamma setting, the brigher it is. Otherwise turn your monitor up.

card has nothing to do with it.
I got 9800XT, and haven't even touched the gamma settings.

it's something else, not sure what though.

Got your drivers up-dated? I have the 9700 and it works fine for me.

The game just seems dark ice.
I turned up the brightness in my graphics settings (card, not game) and it looks just great when I start the game.
I just made a profile for HL2 and changed to that when I played.

Though, I don't need to change the brightness for CS:S, so that's good.

With today's hardware, you shouldn't have to play with gamma at all.
