Japanese Name generator

Now, I don't really think this authentic give the site and the fact that if you enter even extra character symbols i.e.@!#$&^! you get a name.

It's not random as I got consistant results when re-entering a name even after leaving the site.
So, How is this done? I'm sure it's not that complicated, I'm just a little curious to hear from those that some coding xp.

It probably is random or \"semi-random\", based off the input.

i registered a username and created a name generator, all you do is put in the output names - there's no way to setup exactly HOW it chooses the output names from the input names.


roid becomes:

My guess is a simple hashing algorythm. That's the common approach to mapped lookups of stuff. Basically, the algorythm takes some kind of input like a text string, and returns a number between 0 and x. No matter where you run it, the same string would always return the same number. A good algorythm would generate a fairly even balance of results in the entire number range.

So, for something like this name thing, you'd just list all of the Japanese names you had, and set up the algorythm to return some number in the range, or in a bigger range and wrap, or whatever. Whatever text you type in is sent into the alg and the index of the resulting jap name is returned.
