Did you actually take a look at the figures in the AnandTech article? They show that adding a second CPU core gives you a bigger boost in physics calculations than a dedicated PPU (bear in mind too that they're running the exact same calculations on both the PhysX card and the dual core CPU). If ...

Intel's upcoming Quad-Cores have something call PNI(Penryn New Instructions), basically the newest revision of SSE... I wonder that they'll do?

The whitepaper on SSE4 mentions nothing specifically about the new instructions being good for speeding up physics calcualtions, so I'm guessing they won ...

BFG Physx card is $195.99 at Newegg and there's a $40 rebate

If you've been considering one of these but felt the price was too high, then here's your chance to get one on the cheap.

BFG Tech Physx Processing Unit at Newegg

Rebate form at Newegg

The rebate is good until 10/15/2006.

I just ordered one; $155.99 (after the rebate but before shipping and ...

Is there a way to force the sparkles and motion blur on? I can't see the SSE special effects even though my FX-57 supports SSE.

IMO, my X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS sounds great and is worth what I paid.

If someone reading this is thinking about the X-Fi and doesn't mind paying a premium over the Audigy 2 ZS sound cards, then I say go for it, it's a great card.

You need to download and install driver v2.7.3 from the Creative site because it corrects some problems with older games not detecting EAX with the v2.7.1 driver which comes on the CD. Now all of my games which support EAX detect it.

Once placed you'd think the keys were fixed as if in a regular keyboard. They just don't move.

BTW, the keys have a nice tactile response, too.

So far I've used it for three nights of 4 hour gaming sessions and I love it.

A special permanent adhesive pad of some sort I guess. That's what it looks like anyway.

Once placed the keys are rock solid. They only move when you twist them off, and that takes a little bit of force.

Also, the keys are powered by induction, so no batteries are needed.

If you want "ultra quiet" why not get an Asus A8N-SLI Premium Motherboard with a heatpipe instead of a chipset fan? The heatpipe works better than a fan, and with no moving parts it's silent.

Or is that too much of a "bleeding edge waste-of-money item" for you?
