While I don't care to chase plugins and spend money I don't have, I really, really love the design sense in a lot of these products. Just gorgeous. Great to look at regardless of how they sound.

I think you made the right choice, there are lots of time and modulation effects out there but when it comes to distortion and fuzz, which are so important to the fundamental tone, there aren't as many good options.

I got here late so I missed out on a lot of great gaming discussion, but I will note that having a community run wiki would have been a nice touch for this game. My guess is that it was never needed since there were so many great fan sites, but now a lot of that knowledge has been lost, probably.

I've only heard good things about La Bella. I've always been hesitant to try any brand that doesn't list their string tension though. Tension is super important to me (I know I'm in the minority of players that care).

It's a good idea to do a minor setup whenever you change to a new type/brand of strings because the tension and thickness will likely be slightly different.

My theory on the battery connection is it's due to people commonly forgetting to remove batteries causing them to leak. A really bad leak with classic 9v leads is much a much easier fix than a battery box. I'm going to speak from experience here because I 3D print and sell replacement battery covers ...

It's too bad they just sent you a generic for a 4-string bass instead of the specs for a 5-string.
