I guess we have a "He said, he said" don't we? The fact is, the actual "Notice to deploy" wasn't until July. Walz decided to retire in May. Maybe he heard the rumors, but so what? He had every right to retire after serving for nearly 25 years. He gave a pretty good chunk of his life to the National Guard and I'd say that was a big sacrifice for his country in itself.

I think I've watched 3 different people lay out what Walz did with his retirement. He stayed in 4 years passed the 20 year mark and 2 years after full scale combat began. There is one clip where he says he carried a weapon in war which is why this has any legs - no one is sure wether that was a flub or to mislead a room full of people.

24 years is a 1/3 of a male Americans lifespan. What a bunch of dicks turning the screws on this. Politics are disgusting.

Insult me if you want, but I have a problem with people who conflate their own record for political gain and buff their image. If someone is going to brag that they have valor while claiming the other guy chickened out and stole it, they'd better have the record to prove THEIR valor. Vance has none of that other than hitting a keyboard, so he needs to STFU. So does Trump, who definitely chickened out and took the usual rich man's deferment back in the day (5 times, college, bone spurs) that most Amercan young, economically poor, male, Vietnam cannon fodder didn't have.

No, I'm not insulting his service. But he does a disservice to everyone who's serving or has served in the military with his constant and disingenuous attacks on a man who served a large part of his life in the service of his country, far longer than Vance did. The fact Vance went to Iraq and Walz didn't means nothing. Neither men saw combat so neither man has stolen valor and Vance is an asswipe for claiming otherwise just to further his political career.

I actually spent some time reading about Walz's service history. I've spent zero time even considering whether you've lied about your service, I simply take you at your word.

Woody, I gather you like your disability checks and health care as do most vets? And yes, I think vets deserve that compensation for serving long after they've left the service. Maybe not so much with Trump and the Heritage Foundation though. Be careful who you vote for.

This is the one statement that Vance claims is "stolen valor". Technically, the U.S. was at war after 911 and he carried a gun during his service. He just wasn't in Iraq. Why is that stolen valor? Neither man pointed or fired their weapons at an enemy in combat, so Vance is full of it.
